We love the railroad park. All ages can enjoy it. They are open to the public on a limited basis. Most all the times we have been there are for a private party or gathering. We went to a church BBQ there on Saturday where there were probably 200 people in attendance. They are also a great activity for Birthday parties or family reunions.
They have multiple scale trains to be seen. There is a great train ride that our kids ride almost nonstop while we are there.
The clubs are super friendly and love trains.

The rides are fantastic for young children. There also are model trains, one of which the children are allowed to run, the Harry Potter train to Hogwarts. The biggest problem is your child may not want to leave. They can ride the Thomas train by themselves. It is all free but there are donation boxes. Please take the time to thank a volunteer.

The official site for the park ( http://www.ci.medford.or.us/page.asp?navid=497 ) ( more info: http://www.soc-nrhs.org/medfordrrpark.htm ) says: 2nd and 4th Sunday each month, April thru October, 11am - 3pm. We live in Medford and have enjoyed the park several times with our grandchildren. If you are a model railoading fan coming to the area, you might also want to know about Micro Trains ( http://www.micro-trains.com/ ) in the little town of Talent, Oregon, between Medford and Ashland. They make the tiny N gauge and even tinier Z gauge trains. Exceptional quality, prices not tiny.

We were in Medford on a Sunday so I did a search for the park. I was hoping it might have a Christmas theme going on since the grandsons like trains and we have never been in town on the right days. Google brought up a big page of info and showed it being open.
We found it right after posted open time but I was immediately suspicious. Not the right kind of cars in the lot but also bicycles and shabby looking people. We pulled in for a closer look and a guy about thirty ft away jumped out of his car giving us the stink eye and walking our way. I tried to discourage him by obviously looking over the park. He. Stopped short. And flipped. Me off. I don't care but I had my grandsons and I fall under HR218 but still wanted no trouble. Obviously a Google mistake and disappointment but even if the place was open, I would not have let the kids out of the car. I backed out to drive away and the tweeker was still giving the stink eye and flipping me off if I got a quick visual on him. Passed by a cluster of low life's at another car and Crack pipes were out and smoking.
This place does not look like a bad neighborhood and an expanding Fire Station is next door. BUT, if I ever try this again in the summer, I will have to get an entirely different impression in the parking lot before I would let the kids out or leave my vehicle unattended.
Too bad. I know good people must work to keep this place up.

This park is a fun, well planned park, It covers a few acres and had miniature train rides and lots of historic memorabilia. They have a snack bar with a good picnic area. My grandkids love this place, and it is a bargain when we see the kids get into the trains.

The Railroad Park isn't open much due to the nature of it being a volunteer run operation. It is such a treat for the little ones, and I believe that the schedule is something like 2 Sundays a month during the Summer so check the schedule before going.

After living in the area for going on 35 years, we made our first visit to the Medford Railroad Park with two visiting grandchildren yesterday. What a wonderful place it is! They have probably 9 or 10 small gauge trains that are used to give rides to visitors, as well as a full-size speeder motorcar that runs on a shorter track. We rode the small gauge train for the approximately 10 minute tour around the property. There is also a rather large "island" in the middle of the park that is outfitted with many standard gauge trains running various tracks and many scale towns, mountains, etc. There are also a steam engine, several cabooses, and a couple of museums to explore. What a place to visit for all ages from young children (there is a Thomas train exclusively for children to ride) to elderly adults. The only thing needed is an interest in trains. And the best part??? -- It's free! There is no admission charge, though they do have many donation jars set up to allow folks to contribute to the maintenance, etc., should they so desire. The park is run strictly by volunteers from the Southern Oregon Live Steamers club, many of whom have their own locomotives there. The only down side is that the park is open only on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, currently from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you find yourself in Medford on the appropriate Sunday and have the interest in trains and time on your hands, I'd say this is a must-see!

The Medford Railroad Park is amazing! My family volunteer hours at the park each season. The park offers a wonderful community service as everyone that works there is not paid for their services. It provides hours of entertainment, education and fun to our local community. Train rides, hands on Thomas display for the kids, waterfalls, history and education center, and great food are some of the attractions! Everyone leaves the park with a smile on their face.

According to their web page "The park is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the second and fourth Sundays from April through October.".
Doesn't look like Aug 31st or September 6th it would be open.
Will you be open today the 5th Sunday of July? We are from Utah and we won’t be here the 2nd Sunday in August
Is the park open next Sunday with the minature train rides. 4th Sunday of February.

According to the information that I can find, this park is only open on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month? Is that the only times they are open? Or is it just free train rides on those dates and it's open generally every weekend. Thanks!
Currently the park is only open the 2nd & 4th Sunday. However this summer they are considering opening every weekend. It is fun anytime it is open.
