COVID had prevented tours from being permitted - but the Harry & David Store is worth the trip. We arrived at the perfect time as they have occasional special deals for fresh fruit at discounted prices. The day we arrived - they were offering YUMMY peaches 🍑 for only 59 cents a pound.
We definitely got our full of these amazing golden treats.
The store also has some very affordable and unique gifts.
It was true blessing for us all!

We had gone before Covid. We learned new facts about their operation and it was truly fascinating. our guide Kay was informed and welcoming and clearly enthused about the products, the operation and the history. So much fun to learn how these things are made and packaged so efficiently. The tour ticket price of $5 is worth that much at the store which is very easy to do !

I can't say enough good things about this factory tour. Patty and Kay are amazing, the tour is very interesting, and informative. We went on a field trip with a group of kids, and they all loved it. The factory smells delicious, and it was so fun getting to see how moose munch and truffles are made. The packing facility is impressive, much respect to all of the hard work that the employees put in every day. We watched a lady package a large gift box in 25 seconds! If you are in the area and get the chance, you should definitely check it out.

I been buying these pears for 20yrs. This company had the best fruit 20yrs. ago. The pears they sent out 12/14/22, about a dozen boxes, were the worst ever. Three weeks later they are still not ripe. We always follow thr enclosed instructions. They are very small, closer to ping pong balls opposed to the big base ball size of a few ago. They are not sweet and they are not good. Supermarket pears are better. After 20 years of loyalty, I will send my business elsewhere next year. Places like Manhattan Fruiterers are a lot more money but the quality is unsurpassed. I had to apologize to a lot people and I still feel miserable for giving such a poor gift to the ones I love.

I had received a fruit and wine Christmas basket from a family member, that included some cheese and bits as well. Initially, I was excited to see the label Harry&David as I recognized the name with good reputation, but opening the package filled me with sadness. The wine and cheese were fine, but every single pear was completely covered with ugly brown blemishes. I contacted the customer service and after a long back and forth texting, including photos of label, fruit and contact info, I was assured several times, that the problem will be corrected immediately. A month later, I wrote to the customer service again, wondering about status. And sadly, I had to start again, spending a lot of time explaining, providing info, only to be told that info on their files is different, sorry…..I insisted they provide me with a phone number and had the sender contact them by phone. Several days later, I had received new pears, this time without blemishes, AND a bottle of wine. It is very sad that Harry&David could not correct the problem right away as promised, to earn higher star rating.

What a great store and tour. I am so glad we took the time and payed the $10 to take a tour of the factory. I have a new appreciation for the work that goes into the boxes, towers, and baskets that they sell. It is very labor intense. In addition to the tour, the store itself is amazing with a number of specials and deals on their products as well as deli items and a beautiful produce area. Great place to shop!

We made a tour reservation and we're told after paying while boarding bus that nothing was operational. I feel we should have been told that when we made the reservation or at least during payment

We enjoyed this two hour tour of the assembly lines and bakery of Harry and David. It's pretty amazing to see how they package and ship so many orders. If I'm not mistaken, I believe I saw Lucy and Ethel down there filling candy boxes!!

This factory tour is for a produce and chocolate based company, so their busy season is in the months leading up to Christmas. Other times of the year they only have minimal activity (i.e. the Moose Munch popcorn products and Chocolate).
Harry and David started out as pear growers due to the special climate and soil around Medford. They then expanded over the years into the online and catalog business they have today.
They charge $5 for the tour, but you get a $5 coupon to spend in their store where the tour is over. If you do not have a reservation they have you use the wall phone at the back of the store, by the bathrooms, to call the reservation center. If you known when you are passing through Medford you can call ahead to 1-877-322-8000 and make a reservation.
We seem to stop overnight in Medford on our trips up I-5, as it seems to be about half-way. There are several hotels and restaurants co-located with the Harry and David shop, so it is easy to stay overnight and take a tour the next day.
They take you from the Harry and David shop to the factory in a little bus. The factory shows how they prepare the fruit baskets, mix the Moose Munch, cook the chocolate, and package the various items for shipment. Again, try to take the tour during the fall and before the holiday season to see more of the equipment in action.

This is the first factory tour we've been to that charges for it. You do get a $5 coupon and a tiny gift box containing two truffles after the tour; it was just off-putting and we almost skipped it. I didn't see anyone in our group tip the guide after the tour; probably because of the $5 charge. They run twice a day; we were on the 1:45pm and our guide "Chris" said she is more relaxed and doesn't have to rush when it is the last of the day. Almost all the lines were running. We learned a thing or two about pears. We got to see a couple batches of Moose Munch being made (I <3 butter!), several batches of truffles, pear sorting, and lots and lots of packaging. Mention AAA in the store for a 15% discount. H&D items are pricey to begin with, but these have no fancy ribbons or colorful packaging. Stick to the red stickered clearance items. About 1/3 of the store is wine and 1/3 is fruit. The day we toured, bananas were 10 cents/pound cheaper than at Wally's. Don't follow your GPS to the factory - tours begin at the store.

The local store is open today @ 7am. To my knowledge, they should be giving tours, but I would call the local Medford, OR store for verification @ 541-864-2278. Happy Holidays!

Is this a good tour for children ages 5 & 10?

It depends on the interest of the children. Normally, however, I do not think the youngest will get much out of it.
Also, depending how tall, the youngest may not be able to see everything.

We're coming through Medford this Sunday late morning...
Any tours around then? If so - what times & how long are they?
Thanks,

I'd check for updates on their website. Might still be on a winter schedule until after Memorial Day.
