Skip the lake itself, it was almost empty -- but the drive up from the Applegate Valley is fun. Keep on driving up to the two Squaw Lakes on winding dust roads if you're into nature and looking for some adventure. Recommended: The shortish hike to the Bigfoot trap (and nearby geocache GC1A7Z1) -- search for "Bigfoot Trap" on Wikipedia... More

Hot summers, cool lake. Parking a bit tight and because of water management, have to hike down some to get to a rocky beach. Wear beach shoes as bottom is very rocky. Get beyond it though and just laze around on some floating device and you are in heaven for sure.

I used to fish & ski there and everyone wanted to a shot at skiing, both two skis and on one ski, a lot fun.

Applegate Lake is truly a hidden gem! NO crowds, warm water and beauty abounding! Like having your own private lake, on a boat you can get way back into small coves.

If you plan on going to Applegate lake then go in the beginning of summer. The lake is very low late in the summer. And I mean like half the lake bed is dry! Beautiful area for sure with lots of hiking trails.

Just a great lake to enjoy a quite and peaceful day. No fast boats or Jet skis. So bring your rafts, inner tubes, stand up paddleboards. Don't forget a nice picnic too . Enjoy!

The lake is beautiful, with cool clear water (you don't need to worry if you swallow some, it won't hurt you), nice easy access beaches. The real gem are all the trails, which include a trail to a true life big foot trap built some time in the 1930s. (I think it would have worked better if they out a... More

The water is wonderful, although very low, you can see the high water marks from years (many it seems) past. Limited access, there are only a few places where you can easily get down to the water with one of them a state park area that requires a fee, the others have very limited parking areas. Steep banks are another... More

Applegate Lake is a perfect place to visit and stay for a weekend or a week. Clean clear cool water. many arms to investigate, it never feels crowded. Of the five lakes in Jackson County, it is my famly's favorite lake. Beautiful setting. great swimming, hiking, fishing, boating and camping. At the back of the lake turning left, great drive...
