There were multitudes doing so many activities that disturbed us with noises. Looking for solitude and peaceful place, this is not it.

One of the great outdoor playgrounds in southern Oregon! This time for me was a 4 day fishing trip from Galise out to gold beach (almost). You see kayaks, camping, large variety of wildlife, just a great option no matter what you like to do outdoors

I live on the California coast but love to go inland to camp on the Rogue River, There is a great Oregon State park called Valley of the Rogue off of I-5 that has a few miles of walking/biking trails, and has fun yurts to camp in. Then there are several Josephine County parks that have camping on the river, some with yurts available. The county parks are not as nice as the state park, but if you are into camping and nature they are a great value. Southern Oregon is a great place to get outside, there is a lot to do for all ages and abilities. Medford and Grants Pass are super places to visit, you really need a month to see even half of it!

You can go river rafting here or just acknowledge that this important river has created the landscape. You will run across it if you go wine tasting.

I went on a tour with a group and we had raft support for our luggage and for people who did not want to hike the full 40 miles. I was happy to hike the full 40 plus I did get to raft through Mule Canyon. Super fun time and I enjoyed my stay at each lodge. All lodges were excellent in their own way.

On the hike one will probably see bald eagles, wild lilacs, irises, lupine and columbine. The hike is pretty straight forward, but if you fear ledges and heights then I’m not sure this hike is for you. Rafting is always an option to explore this beautiful region.

Nature lovers will enjoy this feature of the area. It's the major river and there are all sorts of outdoor activities around it. We took a drive and enjoyed the scenery and went to a winery.

The Rouge is a beautiful river. We stayed seven nights at the Paradise lodge and were able to hike four days for 31 miles total.

The river is generally cold until June or July, Aug is the best time to swim and travel the river. There are many swimming locations along the river, several parks one can stop, rest, pick-nick, bar-b-q if caring supplies in a large enough craft to hold coolers. I highly recommend running the Rogue river

We stopped at this park on our way to the Redwoods. Hadn't known about it before. Short hike to several pretty views of the rushing Rogue River. Very picturesque. Worth a short stop if you pass by. Would have stayed longer but it was raining. On the hike is the Natural bridge where the river flows underground for 200' then reappears. Glad we stopped.
