Whether a member or not this is a must see for all Gods children. A visit just to the grounds alone will have you feeling the Holy Spirit deep in your heart. The visitors Center has a beautiful, larger than life statue of our Savior that is magical and inspiring to all that visit. It is just off I-5 and a visit you will not soon forget!

The temple grounds are beautiful and peaceful, a refuge in the hustle and bustle of Portland. While entrance to the temple itself is generally reserved for faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and invited guests, the Visitors' Center is open to the public. The Visitors' Center is a great place for children and adults to explore and have a hands-on experience as they learn. My daughter really enjoyed talking with the sister missionaries and playing a game with them. There were activities for her to do and interactive learning stations. She was excited to be there and looks forward to going back. Missionaries who serve there are welcoming, friendly, and full of information about the temple, the church, and Jesus Christ. There are also special events that take place during the holidays as well as at other times of the year. You can feel free to ask questions or be left to browse on your own. There is never any pressure from the missionaries.

This is one of the places that I go to seek for peace and harmony. It is a nice place to visit that is open to the public and you will not regret coming. The grounds around that temple are amazing. There is a fountain, lots of flowers, and a reflective pool. What makes it so neat for me is that even though it is right next to I-5 it is surrounded by trees so the highway does not seem so loud. I often come here with my family to feel the peace of Jesus Christ.

My family always loves to come walk around the beautiful rose garden and go inside the visitors center. The people we have interacted with there are always very welcoming and kind. The missionaries do a great job of explaining their beliefs. There is always such a calm, sweet spirit here. It is open to everyone, you do not have to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to enjoy the temple grounds.

Although the full temple experience is only a available to those with a temple recommend, the visitors center and temple grounds are welcome to all. It is such a spiritual experience to walk around and take in the beauty of the temple. The visitors center is a great place to learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. With missionary’s around to answer any questions you may have.

I love coming here. Me and my now husband went there as part of a date, and it’s right next to the temple where we got engaged and married! It’s a great place to just ponder, to ask questions, and to learn. And during Christmas season there’s usually a lot of beautiful performances!

Even if you are already familiar with LDS Temples in general, this is one to see. These grounds might be the most beautiful I've ever been to. Nestles among the trees, the bright gray and white spires provide a stark contrast to the deep greens of the surrounding evergreen woodlands. The effect is otherworldly. The grounds are quiet and peaceful despite being adjacent to the I-5 freeway. There is a small visitors center on the grounds for anyone curious about the purpose of the Temple or the beliefs of the Church. The staff is friendly and helpful and there are a few activities for children. Be mindful that because of the small size of the visitors center, it can sometimes get crowded depending on the time of visit.

The Portland temple is my favorite place on earth! I have traveled quite a bit in my life, but nothing beats the peace and calmness on the beautiful grounds of the temple. There are always beautiful flowers and it is a wonderful place to go and ponder and meditate. I would highly recommend visiting to take in the beauty even if you aren't a member of the Church of Jesus Christ!!

When you hear “Heaven on earth” — this is the place , you visit with an open mind & leave with a meaningful purpose.

First time was 2019, we visited as a family the atmosphere is very peaceful— The scenery of green forest, gardens are beautifully calming. We were received with luke warm welcoming smiles, they were closing by the time we arrived but saw that we walked in, they gave us a tour . Highly recommend!!!

I love every bit of my time spent here on the temple grounds and at the visitor’s center! The visitor’s center is awesome, the guides there are missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who answer all of mine or my kiddos questions about God, Jesus, why temples are even built. They know so much about the symbols on the building and they’re really kind and friendly. My kiddos love the short films that are played in their little theatre room. My favorite part was the Book of Mormon display they have, the Book of Mormon in so many different languages, Tagalog, Spanish, Russian, Lao, German, just to name a few... It was just so impressive!
Hope if you’re from the area or visiting you’ll stop in and see what it’s all about for yourself. This place is a welcoming atmosphere to all individuals and families.
