My cousin has a vacation home on Wallowa Lake. It is one of my favorite places to visit. It's remote enough to keep out many vacationers, creating a place of peace and beauty. This lake has cool, crystal clear waters. It's wonderful for fishing, kayaking...More

One of the most beautiful spots in Oregon. Make sure you take a lunch and enjoy the views. The chipmunks are quite friendly too. We took our bikes and biked down the backside to Joseph on an old road.

I have seen pairs of bald eagles diving to fish, heard coyotes at night while camping and lots of deer and chipmunks. A cold pristine mountain lake, worth the drive.

Nice view . Wife took quite a few pictures and we walked around for a while. There are picnic benches and places for a fire or to grill out available.

Wallowa lake has a great state park at the far end, with camping, motorhome, and Yurt rentals. There's a boat launch, store, and boat rental at the state park. The drive thru the park is great, lots of deer walking about, and the gondola ride...More

Among the most scenic drives I have taken from La Grande to Wallowa Lake, beautiful mountains, rivers, and streams, and quaint little towns along the way.

Definitely off the beaten path. You go here on purpose, but so beautiful. Bring your hiking shoes and camera!
