Great way to spend family time. Lots of activities such as hiking, horseback riding, miniature golf and the town of Joseph has wonderful gift shops and statues to observe. Camping area is great. Lodge is beautiful summer as well as winter with the fountain. Plan on spending a weekend in the cabins. Wonderful experience in the high mountains of eastern... More

Joseph, Oregon is nestled in the foothills of the Wallowa Mountains, some of the most spectacular glaciated mountains south of Canada. The wilderness is extraordinary. And Wallowa Lake is a gem set between two of the most perfect lateral moraines in the world.

We live in Nampa, Idaho and had always heard how beautiful Joseph, Oregon was, so we decided to take a road trip and it was AWESOME!! Left Nampa and headed to Vale, Oregon. It was un-sensational until we got to Unity, Oregon and we headed toward Sumpter. Beautiful country and forests. Pristine campgrounds N of Unity. Sumpter is an old... More

This is, indeed, worthy of the title 'American Alps.' The glacier carved granite mountains look just like you are standing in front of the Matterhorn, or the Eagles Nest of the European Alps. Incredibly beautiful, clean and no crowds! Well worth the trip to this NE corner of Oregon. Wait! Don't go! Once you see it you'll tell people, they'll... More

We have stopped here three times now in our travels and love the hiking and 4x4ing that is available in this area. We will continue to visit this area often in our RV travels.

Our own Swiss Alps. The lake and wildlife are always beautiful! Be sure you take the tram up to see the TRUE beauty in the surroundings. For fun there are go carts and other fun activities in Wallowa. Keep your eyes open as there are deer everywhere who seem to not see you at all...

The area of Wallowa Lake is spectacular, and the town of Joesph is a fun place to spend a day exploring. Take the tram to the top of Mt Howard and hike the trails for unbelievable views. Our travel blog has pictures to whet your appetite. www.2vegans2wheels.com

Stayed in La Grande in our motorhome. This was a beautiful day trip. The state park and lake are well worth the drive! Take a picnic lunch!
