WINDY, Clean, safe, and dog friendly.

Parking a little expensive, but if you are in town to kite, sup or windsurf this is an awesome spot to rig up and launch.

If you like cold and windy...
Aug 2018 • Couples
This place became unpleasant after about 15-20 minutes as it is very windy and can get quite cold because of this. Even on days that are over 90 degrees the wind can really chapped Your Hide. Unless you are going there to kite Sail or windsurf I wouldn't spend more than 10-15 minutes this place

Great Place to Play in Hood River
Jul 2017 • Solo
The Hood River Event site is great for dogs, a swim, water sports, yoga and a casual lunch in the shade. There is a large sandbank and a smaller sandy area to enter the water at the main site. A bit down the trail there is an area for kids to play, swim and eat. The rest of the waterline is a bit rocky. Overall, the event site offers adventure and a chance to explore health, happiness and a humble perspective. Enjoy!

Kiteboard for Cancer
Jul 2017 • Family
Middle weekend in July has a fundraiser named "Kiteboard For Cancer" Very fun family event. Plenty to eat and drink, games and activities for kids. Play in the water and on the beach.

great park
May 2017 • Couples
The area is mainly for kite boarding and wind surfing on the columbia river.
The wind here makes this an excellant place for these sports.
There is a nice walkway along the river and some benches to watch the activities.
The grass is well cared for and the area clean.
Many people walk their dogs here so it is also good for watching a parade of different breeds

What a great place to get some fresh air, and stretch your legs after a long drive
May 2017 • Couples
They have really done a great job of developing the Event site. A paved trail runs along the river for a walk or a run, and you can even bring your dog if you keep them leashed. there is a play ground of the kids, river beach access for an all around experience when you stop. Well worth a visit.

Hood River Event Site for RV dwellers is a challenge
Jul 2015
The event site is small and the sandbar is crowded, but still, the wind blows and blows and the people are friendly and helpful and come from all around. Overall an enjoyable summer destination for kiters and wind surfers. Parking is $7 for regular and $15 for oversize vehicle for the day (until 9:30pm). Season parking passes are available and are the way to go if you plan on spending 10 or more days as the street parking fills up quickly. Overnight RV parking on the street (anywhere in Hood River...) is NOT available as the police cracked down on this around the end of July 2015 and $500 tickets were handed out. Best to make other arrangements.

Great stop to watch Kite Boarding and Wind Surfing
Jun 2015 • Family
This is a public park in Hood River that is known for Kite Boarding and wind surfing. I would recommend stopping here for an ice cream and to watch all the activities going on. The beach is nice and sandy and many kids were playing in the water.

If you have the time you can take a kite boarding or wind surfing lesson. There were at least two or three businesses operating board rentals and lessons.
