Mt. Hood Railroad, Fun but not all THAT

It is fun. Yes, the cars are older as others have said. Yes, the ride doesn't go that far. But for a history lesson, to learn about travel in the past, and what cutbacks are, etc., it is fun. We actually enjoyed the food. We were with a group of tribal elders and everyone seemed to enjoy the trip. That... More

We hoped to see much more of the mountains. Brush on our side. Train did not switch so could get different views. A lot of money but not much for what you pay. Disappointed!

I took relatives from out of town. First class car. Uncomfortable chairs at tables, too loud, couldn't hear the narrative through the bad speakers, dirty windows, very few views except blackberry bushes, box lunch with damp sandwich, tired servers whose clothes were dirty and frumpy, crowded together, very loud with a full car--all that for $45 a person, plus $5... In celebration of my 75th birthday, we went to Hood River to ride on the Mt Hood Railroad. We chose the Diamond dinner car. The dining car has been refurbished to a point. We weren't given a choice of seating and shared a table with a nice much younger couple. Some patrons were seated at a table for two. The... More

We rode the train to Odell and it was a fun way to spend a few hours. The staff was great and there was commentary and some history on the area the train was running through but I would've really enjoyed some history on the train itself. The train ride was very wobbly so prepare yourself if you get motion... More

Majority of train ride in and around warehouses. Lunch expensive, not drink included. The staff was very friendly and office accommodated us when we ran into a problem. A one time experience

We were downstairs and did not order food. But we could watch the waiters tramp through our car with Styrofoam boxes on their way to serve food. The windows were dirty and opaque from age. We got wet towels to clean the dirt off but still could not see out of them - not that there was anything to see... More

Food and service was decent. In fact that was really the only good thing about the brunch excursion. It only goes up to Odell instead of Parkdale like it used to. It really should not be called Mt Hood RR because there are very few opportunities to see the mountain. Don't waste your time and money and go for a... More

The train ride was beautiful and restful. The dinner was awesome, what an excellent chef. Laloni and Debi were the best, their smiles and attentiveness were made the ride well worth it.

We had dinner in the observation car for our anniversary. 3 course meal that was beyond fabulous! The train was well maintained. The staff was so attentive, and the view was amazing! We would do this 2 1/2 hour excursion again in a heartbeat! Our menu: Appitizer Salad with rolls Filet of beef with portobello mushrooms, and fingerling potatoes Blackberry... More
