We spent two hours of day at the Columbia Gorge on the rails, actually about 40 minutes each way at 30 at the destination. Many lovely views, but unfortunately not of Mt. Hood, as the train had a curtailed run. We enjoyed the Hood River cherries.

The train stops in Odell for one half hour after backing up the entire way. Track is nauseatingly wobbly. Most passengers were asleep upon arrival, including children. Improvements could make this enjoyable. One star is too generous. Also, the fare is overpriced.

Everyone in our party was disappointed on this trip. First, the windows on our train car were pretty dirty making it difficult to see out of. Second, if you could see through the window there was so much vegetation right along the track it made it hard to see much beyond that. We did not see much of the orchards,... More

You really don't make it to Mt. Hood, but you can see it on a clear day. We took the 2 hour trip up a hill to the small village of Odell, where we walked around and listened to cowboy Bob sing some songs. The view up wasn't all that much, which was good ... because the windows are clouded... More

We did the Odell excursion in the diamond class, which has you up in the top of the domed car. The scenery was not nearly as captivating as I expected as for much of the trip your views are obscured by brush and tress next to the tracks. The food was decent but not great, however when I purchased the... More

Brenda and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with dinner on the Mount Hood Railway. The scenery from the Dome Dining Car was great...lots of green forest, Mount Hood (picture a giant Disney Matterhorn) and Mount Adams, rushing waters. ...kind of hard to figure negative reviews on this aspect UNLESS others not in the dome car. Food was just OK: Brenda's... More

This was something my wife found while searching the internet for something my son can enjoy. It's a first experience for the 3 of us and I have to say it wasn't disappointing at all. We paid for the diamond class to get the best experience and views (and comes with a lunch). The train station was kept very well... More

Super fun experience from beginning to end, even in the cold and rain! We chose the dining car, which was a great idea and worth the cost because the service was excellent and the food wasn't bad either! This was a great way to spend a relaxing Saturday morning/afternoon! It rained the entire trip, so we plan to do it... More

I really loved the train ride and the food. I went on a Mystery train ride and the actors really stressed me out. They were loud and in my face and I just wanted to relax and enjoy the train ride. I thought I was going to watch a play and it was not a play. I gave it four... More

The "scenes" are mostly alleys and junk yards, nothing of any special beauty at all with the exception of a few glimpses or the mountains. The food was dreadful and the murder mystery was the worst one we had ever seen. The acting was very loud, obnoxious in fact. Hard to even get in to the story it was so... More
