We had planned to do a one hour horseback ride to a fruit farm, but instead Margot took us on a two hour plus ride through the woods and up some hills to to a gorgeous view of the Columbia River. I have not been on a horse in over forty years and never in this type of terrain. The... More

I knew horseback riding was one thing we definitely wanted to do while visiting Hood River. Selected Margot and Double Mountain after reading other reviews and so happy we did. We reserved a Sunset Ride which happened to also be the night of a full moon, and we were able to experience both. Although we reserved a group ride, it... More

Our family had a wonderful time riding with Double Mountain Ranch. An hour ride to a gorgeous view of the gorge and back was perfect for our little ones. The owner knew the perfect horses to match our kid's skill level. She even brought everything we'd need from water to cowboy boots! We had a great time. Can't wait to... More

I say it's the the perfect thing to do when it's your last day in Hood River because to do this first everything else would pale in comparison! We talked about it almost non-stop the whole ride home. The owner Margo couldn't be more accomadating, and our guides loved what they were doing and were extremely helpful in teaching us... More

Me and my wife rode with our daughter and it was perfect. We asked Margot to tailor our tour to cater for our different experience levels which was no problem. She is an excellent guide, very knowledgable and totally professional. We've ridden on many similar rides over the years and this was one of the best. Apache was my horse... More

What a way to spend Mother's Day! Riding through the incredible beauty of the Pacific Crest Trail near Hood River was an experience I treasure. The forest looked like fairy land. Margo is the kind of person who immediately feels like a friend, and as a solo traveler, this really added to my comfort. We stopped at the waterfall and... More

Our ride with Margo was a great experience. Despite a mid morning downpour we still went ahead on our ride with Margo being really flexible as to the weather. We got to see the Gorge from the top and to ride through the magical forests of the Pacific Northwest and made it back to our rental car about 2 minutes... More

This was by far the best horseback experience I have had. No gimmicks or dumb pack animals this was true western riding, along trails, and through streams. Apache was a great horse and we had a amazing time. Don't forget the guide was great too! Margo is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable guides, not only that but she... More

A ride with Margo from Double Mountain takes you through orchards or to waterfalls, with views of snow capped peaks and beauty that is almost impossible to describe. Her horses are docile and ready to go. All you need to do is show up and come along for the ride.

This was the best excursion of my trip. The horseback riding was so much fun and Margo did everything in her power to make sure the ride was everything I wanted it to be. This is the single best way to see the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge area and the Pacific Crest Trail!!!!!
