About
Franco Marchesi's passion for wine began in his hometown of Borgosesia, Peimonte, Italy. As a child he always wondered what it would be like to be a winemaker like his grandfather Achille. After running his own import company specializing in Italian wines for over 20 years, Franco began planting his favorite Northern Italian grapes in Hood River, where the climate and soil are just like Northern Italy. Please come visit, and taste our wines. Salute!

Italian ambiance
Mar 2021
Lovely outdoor covered seating area with individual nooks for your party. Good selection of wines with a fun Italian theme. Wait staff was friendly, but wish they provided more recommendations and knowledge on the tastings.

Safety in the Vineyard
Aug 2020
First of all let me begin with my impression of the safety adhered to at Marchesi. I’m a senior and considered high risk for Covid so I am nervous about going out. Marchesi goes overboard to insure the safety of customers as well as their staff. I felt totally safe there.
This is our favorite winery in Hood River. Today we enjoyed a lovely bottle of Rose made with Sangiovese grapes. We sat among the grape vines and had a delightful time.

Wine tasting with friends
Jul 2020 • Couples
Stopped here for wine tasting on a road trip. No tasting bar open, ordered at the counter by the glass, (about $1 a glass) You could order half glasses and make your own tasting, so to speak, which is what each couple did. That worked fine, just was a different experience than what we were expecting but understandable with all the COVID restrictions. Beautiful vineyard, friendly staff. Very clean. Wine was good.

Marchesi is a great place
Dec 2019 • Friends
Franco has made a wonderful place to eat, drink and enjoy good company. I first started going here almost 12 years ago. He only had a card table and 5 wines, but what amazing wines. Treated everyone as welcomed guests and continues that, even if the winery has grown quite a bit. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling through Hood River. Thanks again to Franco and the whole family.

Nice-tasting Menu Didn’t Tempt
Oct 2019
So many great reviews, but tasting menu didn’t tempt across multiple wines. That said, individual tastes were available at $3 each per wine. We are Italian varietals types...ended up with a glass each of the Sangiovese and Barbera was were we ended up. I was disappointed in the Barbera, but the Sangiovese was good. Ask for two bottles of the reserve, they had to get it from the warehouse. As it was on the web site, surprising, but it had just been updated. The chutcarie board went well with the reds, and the imported virgin olive oil was really goo on the bread sampling.

Everything about Marchesi Vineyards was Great, the wine, people, service, location and tasting amongst the vines!
Oct 2019
It was a beautiful day in the Hood River valley. We were sitting in between 2 rows of Barbera wine grapes tasting a great assortment of local wines and the whole time we were watching Gliders being pulled up into the air from a local small airfield and gently soar and glide back to the ground.
The people at Marchesi were wonderful and had very good knowledge of their wines.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a visit if you're ever in the Hood River Valley.

Good tasting and seated experience
Sep 2019
They have a tasting bar but they prefer you find a table, which is easier to eat the charcuterie they sell you. The wines are all columbia AVA wines made in a upper mid weight but balanced style with lots of ital varietals such as sangiovese, barbera, nebiolo and some cab/merlot blends as well. Friendly folks. Sadly, tasting is NOT fundable with wine purchase,

off beaten path winery

had to hunt to find info cause they don't participate in site rating, etc. Good wine in a quaint comfortably setting very near Hood River. Recommend this non-corporate winery.

Tasting in the Vines
Aug 2019
If you want. to taste the big reds then head up to Hood River. The wineries here source their fruit from the dryer warmer Columbia River Valley with some. grown on winery property in Hood River. Marchesi makes excellent wines and specializes in Italian varietals, They have a wonderful outdoor patio with tables set up on the edge of the vineyards. Need convincing? Picture yourself sitting with friends between two rows of vines iat a table with comfortable chairs tasting serveral wines served to you accompanied by a plate with several cheeses. No friends, go anyways!
