Great place along the Columbia River Gorge
Jun 2020 • Couples
On our drive from San Francisco to Spokane, my husband, little dog, and I stopped to rest and take in the views and a hike along the trail.
This is a gorgeous area that is well worth taking the time to stop and enjoy this natural wonder.
I’ve traveled to many places around the world for both leisure and business. Neither my husband nor I have been in this area before. It is so beautiful that we’re planning a vacation - a relaxing road trip, stopping to spend time all along the way of the Columbia River Gorge.

Challenging hike but worth it for the view
May 2019 • Solo
The trail is steep but not overly so, the challenge is crossing several rock fields where the rocks are not firmly in place. Definitely not for kids under 13. The view from the top is fantastic.

Beautiful views of the Gorge!
Jan 2019 • Couples
We have driven by here dozens of times but never took the time to stop. We're so glad we did -- even just for the view up and down the Gorge. We didn't have time to take the trail but we will come back. The parking and visiting area was well-kept and inviting.

This was a shorter trek with a decent amount of elevation. A lot of loose rock so wear shoes with good ankle support. INCREDIBLE views of the gorge! Check out blog post with more details on the hike.

Insane View
May 2018 • Couples
The trip begins at the Mitchell Point Trailhead, located at exit 58 on Interstate-84 eastbound. Park at the south end of the large parking area, where a paved path heads into the trees.
This short hike to Mitchell covers a lot of scenery in just 2.6 miles. The trail is often steep and rugged, so you'll feel like you made a longer trek, especially when you consider that you will gain nearly 1,300 feet in that short distance. Like most eastern Gorge trails, this route has several patches of poison oak that you'll need to watch for, and you should check for ticks when you get home. Long pants are essential for this trip.!

Tough trail but amazing view!
Aug 2017 • Couples
This rugged and steep trail ascends to Mitchell Point in 1.3 miles. Prepare to climb 1200 ft the the top. Because it is steep, there are areas you can slip so be careful. Portions of the trail also traverse shale rock fields where footing is also tricky. The last 100 yards or so, are up a fairly exposed and steep trail to the top. It can get hot so take water! The view was worth the journey, but it wore me out and I'm a seasoned hiker. I don't do trails because they are easy thigh, and this was a challenge just because of the quick elevation change. I really enjoyed my hike though!
