Our guide Justin was knowledgeable and so nice, he did a great job of tailoring our jaunt up the Wind River to our experience and interests, alongside a great sense of humor. His eagle eyes scoped out 10x more birds and fish of interest than I would ever have seen on my own, then dropped the perfect mix of fun and unusual facts on the area —humans, creatures, and environmental. This trip also came with a delicious optional dip in the refreshingly clear river waters. Bonus points for being so responsive pre-tour with phone tips for other great paddling spots I might want to try on my own.

COVID-19 notes: relevant safety procedures for masking on shore felt safe and thoughtful.

Highly recommend Justin! He made us feel right at home on the river and is an expert naturalist who could tell us helpful things about what we were seeing (including the majestic bald eagles!) It was beautiful and safe, and he was friendly and fun to talk to as we paddled along.

We paid $127 total for two of us for two hours and felt we really got our money's worth. We would encourage others to book time with him for a memorable experience.

Booked a kayak tour last minute while staying at an Airbnb in the area and had an amazing time. We were supplied with extra clothing (which we were not expecting) since the weather was especially cold and rainy. The location we were taken to was phenomenal and we appreciated having an experienced guide to show us where to go, explain what we were seeing, and help us with the kayaks. Everything was perfect, not a single complaint.

I rented a stand up paddle board from here and then tried another rental place a few days later. This was definitely the better experience! Was super easy to paddle out to beautiful waters, felt less crowded, and the customer service was way better. Would definitely recommend!

We had a great time! Paul was an excellent guide and kept a very diverse skill group all having fun. Super mellow paddle upriver on the Wind R. and then wrapped up with a sunset experience on the edge of the mighty Columbia. Gorgeous views the whole way. We were a group of three buddies, and there was another group of three folks and some had paddled before but most hadn’t. The kayaks were very safe and stable and easy to enjoy. One of our buddies fell in. But only because we pushed him over! Great time!

The sunset kayak tour on the Wind River was fantastic! Our guide Lynn was amazing and very knowledgeable about the river and local wildlife. We had a great time chatting with her while kayaking and we’re lucky enough to see bald eagles, a hooded merganser duck with 12 ducklings, and a beaver! We headed out on to the Columbia for the second half of the tour where we were able to get out of the kayaks and stand in the river on a sand bank and watch the sunset. Totally amazing and a highlight of our trip to the area. Our teens are still talking about it. Highly recommend this tour and Hood River SUP and Kayak.

This was a perfect experience in every way! Casey was our guide. He was kind, friendly, gave great instructions and offered up tidbits of information about the area. The weather was a little drizzly, but the sights were absolutely stunning. I encourage anyone visiting Hood River to do this kayak tour!

I brought a school group to paddle at the Hook (60 kids over two days) and Justin's team was delightful! Annie and Bruce were kind, patient and extremely helpful. Thank you, Justin, for giving these middle schoolers an experience they will never forget! Thank you for being a wonderful community partner and donating your time and equipment. Because of you, some local kids got to experience something they would never had access to normally.

Our sunset kayak tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Washington and the Columbia River Gorge. Justin was an excellent guide. Even though we had tandem kayaked before, he gave us some pointers that helped us improve and enjoy the experience even more. We learned a lot about the rivers and even saw the salmon spawning! The tour was at a leisurly pace, and we saw a gorgeous sunset at the end. Truly a remarkable experience. If we are back in the area, we would definitely return.
