What a find in Hood River. There is an amazing number and variety of old cars and airplanes in one large museum. All staff (most volunteers) were great. You can tell that everyone is very proud of their museum. Everything is shining and setup for maximum effect. Even if you are not a car or plane fan you will definitely... More

Thank you for the review. People are amazed at how much fun transportation history you can pack in to 2.5 (soon to be 3.5) acres of display space. Because the collection is still functioning, things don't have time to gather dust due to disuse. More

Even though it was a very hot weather day and we wished for air conditioned buildings we still enjoyed seeing all in the museum.

Thanks for reviewing. While the museum does have temperature control such as air conditioning and heating, when it is an exceedingly hot or cold day the ambient temperature in the building can fluctuate due to its large indoor size. To help maintain and preserve the collection our temperatures are never are lower than 65 F in the winter and 75... More

This museum is a great place to see antique planes and cars. They are starting to add a fourth building. Friendly staff that will answer all your questions.

Thanks for the review. WAAAM's latest expansion will be completed by September 2016. This added space will bring the total display area up to just over 3.5 acres of indoor display space. The new construction will give the museum the opportunity to spread things out for better viewing, build upon existing displays, and add new things to enjoy. More

We have been to a few air museums with our flight-obsessed grandson and this little gem stacked up nicely. It had everything you would wish to see and more. The displays were nicely arranged and it was doable for all of us. There is a really fun and educational play area for the kids that was exceptional as those things... More

Thanks for reviewing. As of mid-2016, WAAAM has over 300+ large objects in over 2.5 acres of display space full of living history. We always like to say there is something for everyone to enjoy. As an added bonus for folks that join us on the Second Saturday of every month they can experience this living history first hand. More

I love this place so much that I am a member. The most amazing thing is that all the planes fly and all the cars run. Check out their website for the events schedule. There is always something special going on.

My husband and I visited WAAAM while on vacation. It was a wonderful day spent wandering among old planes, cars and motorcycles that all run! They even have classes so you can learn to drive an old Model T Ford, or other old cars. The planes all fly, too. A first for most museums where usually the displays no longer... More

Thank you for the review. On the Second Saturday of each month WAAAM takes out some of the collection to fly and drive. For those that want the extra level of experience our Driving School classes are offered in the summer where you can learn to drive Model T Fords or drive through the decades in a variety of 30s,... My wife and I really enjoyed seeing the Western Antique Aeroplane & Automoile Museum. The collection of planes and cars was amazing to see. The other collections scattered around the multiple hangars that make up the museum were also very enjoyable to see. Models, toy collections, firearm collections, military unforms, the list goes on and on. The fact that the... More

Thank you for reviewing. WAAAM is constantly striving to enhance the collection with additional history and information for our visitors to enjoy. Because the collection is still alive and the objects frequently move about when we take them out for exercise most of this extra information is on our website, on the WAAAM App, or in the knowledge of our... We really enjoyed the tour of this place, great exhibits on location and a lot of history. All the artifacts available was amazing at every corner. I really enjoyed the items from WWII and the collectables! Catch the volunteers, they are full of knowledge and give great stories of items. Great time for the family for sure.

The museum is attached to the local airfield. The collection of vintage cars and airplanes is world class and the facility is very well staffed and maintained. The admission cost is reasonable. It's a great place for kids and grownups.

Thank you for reviewing. WAAAM is strategically positioned next to the Hood River-Ken Jernsted Airfield so that pilots can not only fly in to see the collection but so that we can fly the museum airplanes too.
