A bit of history in the beautiful Willamette Valley

The Willlamette River and the Wheatland Ferry are a very unique landmark in the Willamette Valley. The problem with the ferry is bike riders are charged a dollar each way per bicycle when you are riding bikes with your family!!! That means if you are a family of four you would be charged$$$$ 8.00 $$$$$ to cross the ferry and... More

The Wheatland Ferry is a treat. Like any ferry, there is nearly always a bit of a wait, but because it is very rural, the wait is usually less that five to ten minutes, and the crossing itself is only about five minutes or less. There is a boat launch area on one side for those who wish to navigate... More

We have used the ferry just for fun on Sunday drives or whenever we are in the vicinidy, also great place for picnics, and walking trails.

Our innkeeper sent us this way down to Silver Falls State Park; very scenic alternative to driving through the city. Saved some time on the drive as well as enjoying the hop farms in the spring. $2 to cross for a car; there was a large John Deere tractor going the other way that took up the whole ferry to... More

This was truly a "stumble upon". Trusting my car's navigation to get me through wine country north of Eugene, OR, I found myself at this charming ferry dock. But it was closed. Looking forward to returning there AFTER checking the schedule!

Heck, How often do you get to ride a ferry these days? Its only $2 for a car and the wait is minimal.

I live in Keizer and whenever I'm going to McMinnville, Lafayette, etc. I take the ferry. I'm normally on my Triumph Motorcycle so it is just $1 for the trip but in the car it is $2. You can go the Marion County Website and search for Wheatland and you'll see the ferry hours and status. You can even signup... More

My boyfriend and I have been traveling across the ferry for years to spend time on the gravel bar side of the river. Recently we decided to make a trip out there and had the unfortunate experience of having our car break down on the ferry. Both of the employees were unbelievably rude to us and made an already stressful... More

It only cost 2 dollars to use the fairy ,free if you just want to walk on and ride across, this is very close to Mission State park so be sure to include this in you Mission Park activities.

We were in the countryside leaving McMinnville and heading to Woodburn outlets when suddenly the GPS said "take the ferry". After first seconds of panic we saw it was a light ferry enabling you to cross the river for a very moderate fee of 2 Bucks. It was very fun to cross the river with the car. Do not hesitate... More
