Winter at Hagg Lake is a quiet time. Too cold to really enjoy picnicking. On the other hand, if there are sufficient rains, the dam controlled lake fills & replaces the mud encrusted banks make the the lake much more scenic.

This is the closest place from Hillsboro, around 30 minutes drive. I visited this place during the summer and recently during the Christmas.

There is a $6 parking pass, which is valid until the sun goes down. There is a kiosk at the entrance. It accepts all major credit cards.

During the summer, this place is moderately crowded. You will see a lot of people bringing their boats and enjoying fishing. There are barbeque places and benches to sit and enjoy your food.

There is a trail going around the entire lake. I didn't try that, but it will be a really long hiking.

Though the lake is open around 365 days/year, fall/winter are not recommended. When we visited during Christmas, we saw very few people, and there was some snow on the side of the road.

Due off season, they locked restrooms, which was kind of weird.

But, any given sunny day. If you fancy a close by place to go on a picnic with your family, this is the place.

I am a frequent visitor to Hagg Lake, living in nearby Forest Grove. I go out and fish a lot, and take in the scenery from weekly throughout the year.

Henry Hagg Lake, is like waking up next to your beautiful spouse. One day the Sun brushes their face, and you see a little bit of heaven, when the next day there is a puddle of dried drool from their face to the pillow.

Hagg Lake is just like that. Sometimes I am in awe of the beauty of nature, and then the water is let out, and we get some of that legendary Hagg Lake Mud! (I hate Hagg Lake Mud!).

Fishing is the same also! Since the lake is only 1100 acres, there is not a lot of space for the fish to spread out. Oh, and that Hagg Lake mud, it doesn't lend it well to good producing great habitat.

There is motor boating allowed out there, and plenty of room to boat in, but on a busy day, there are very few places to go and hide.

SUPs, there is a designated 5mph zone that boats cannot go into, so you have plenty of room to SUP your heart out!

All in all, It is a great lake, and I feel the best in the Portland Area! Bring a Towel, fishingTackle and have some fun!

Hagg Lake is a great place to get away for boating, fishing, picnic, or hiking. when warm they have kayaks and stand-up paddleboards rentals. the hiking trails around the lake give you great views of the lake but can get muddle after heavy rains

We planned our fishing trip, and we were really excited to go to this beautiful park for a full day of fun and fishing. We brought our dog and a picnic lunch. We drove around this pristine lake looking for the perfect spot. We parked and began our adventure. The fishing poles were at the ready and the picnic table gave us the best viewing spot.
We noticed a few yellow jackets and hornets buzzing around but didn't get too concerned. 30 min later we moved so the bees weren't bothering the dog. We made our way down to the water to start fishing thinking this would be better. About 15 min later I was returning to the car to take cover. The bees were everywhere! We ate our picnic in the car and left. So sad we couldn't stay. (BEWARE SO MANY BEES)

We have been visiting Hagg Lake for over 4 yrs. now and today was our final visit. We had known that the public restrooms are closed for the winter and we knew portapotties are placed at different locations at the park. The 3 portables we tried had waste just a matter of inches from the top of the seat.....they apparently had not been pumped out for months! We went down to one of our favorite fishing areas and the shore was infested with large burr/thistles that stuck into our dogs pads and actually into the soles of our shoes. Anyway, I find it annoying that they raised the day rate use to $7.00 this year for poorly maintained facilities. Sorry......we will go elsewhere.

Don't open your mouth! Unfortunately when I did a triathlon in this lake a couple of years ago, I got Giardia - AND so did my friend! Pretty gross and I did have to notify my local health department but I also notified Washington county, don't really know what can be done about Giardia in a lake except maybe warn people!

This was our first visit to this lake, which we have heard so much about....WOW! Trout fishing was amazing, even little kids were landing them! Took us 2 hours to get a limit of 10-18 inch trout. We released another 8-10 smaller 6-8 inchers. I saw a guy catching crappy, he must have gotten 1/2 a dozen...we will be returning very soon!

Fishing, swimming, hiking, bicycling, picnicing, boating, or other adventures. Close by is Tree 2 Tree, a zip line venue for special adventure for the family. The setting is beautiful and biking and running events are held there during the summer. It costs $5 to enter the park.

At one time it was a great place to take the family, but unfortunately has now turned into one big drunken party. Saw several drug deals, at which time we exited the park and didn't look back.
