Gun man blocked forest service road
Nov 2020 • Couples
Tillamook forest is beautiful but we had so bad experience in it. When driving on idiot creek road - a forest service road, we met a gun man who stopped us. with shotgun on one hand and hand gun on another, the man stood in the middle of the road, and didn't let us either drive through or use the turnaround roadside space behind him.

Tree covered loveliness
Mar 2018 • Couples
While the hoards of people head to Mt. Hood and the surrounding area, Tillamook often gets overlooked, though it's seeing more and more people. On a beautiful day on the weekend, or a holiday weekend, every hiking trailhead parking lot will be full, as will every campsite. But there seems to always be parking at Tillamook Forest Center, and that's a good place to start a hike, as is any campsite parking lot, most of which have day use areas (but, again, on a beautiful day or a weekend in summer, these will be full quickly). Sadly, most hikes aren't loops. Stop by the Tillamook Forest Center if you want a paper map of hikes (and the center is worth an hour visit as well).

Nice place to hike
Aug 2017 • Friends
We did the Historical Hiking Loop Trail, about 9 miles. It was a nice trail with lots of variety and most of it in the trees. Visit University Falls, a good lunch stop. Well maintained trail and cool even on a hot day.

Tillamook Forest Center for Hiking, Lunch
Jun 2017
Nice, comfortable place to learn something about the forest, logging, and other history of the area. We packed a lunch and relaxed outside by the Wilson River. Kids love it, lots of interactive displays along with movies. Other than the gift shop, it is free.
