Ok full disclosure...I am a lover of trains, especially steam trains, so there. You can stop reading now because I become effusive when talking about them. Now this particular train leaving Garibaldi Oregon journeys North to Rockaway Beach about a half hour away. Hangs out at Rockaway for about 30 minutes then reverses back to Garibaldi. 3 Trips a day... More

If you like riding old trains along a mostly scenic route, this would be a good way to spend an hour and a half. You get a 30 minute ride from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach, 30 minutes at Rockaway Beach to stand in line for public restrooms, and a 30 minute ride back to Garibaldi along the same route. Our... Travelling in a group of 4 we did the trip on a Thursday and met a gentleman in railroad pants where the train comes in from Rockaway Beach. Surprisingly, he works on the train and on his day off had a friend coming in with grandchildren to make the trip. He was most ready to share experience of the train... More

This hour and a half long train ride takes you along the coast with an unspoiled view. The staff are friendly, the views are beautiful, the the price is reasonable. Highly recommended.

The kids really liked this train ride and the grownups did too. The scenery can't be beat and it was an adventure for the little ones. The staff is so friendly and the ride is just long enough to be fun but not so long that you start to get bored. We took the first train of the morning so... More

We took our little granddaughter on this ride from Rockaway Beach to Garibaldi and back. Great scenery and lots of train horn to keep them happy. There is about a 20 minute turn around and there are play grounds on both ends for a little extra fun.

I have 2 children one is nine and one is 3 they loved it. Wish I would have known you could take the early train then get back on the last train and come back so we could spend more time in rockaway. But we know for next time. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It's about a 25... More

It was a beautiful sunny summer day, and the train ride was gorgeous. My husband and one of my son's rode in the engine with the conductor because they are crazy about trains. The train stops long enough in Rockaway to use the restroom and eat an ice cream cone. It was very low key and relaxing.

Those looking for a scenic and/or history-filled experience need to look elsewhere. Here's what you get for $20.00: A 30 minute ride from point A to point B (the train runs between Rockaway Beach and Garibaldi); a 30 minute layover; a 30 minute return ride. There is no narration about the towns, the train, or the countryside. For the most... More

Really cool. This is a real steam engine with the bell ringing and the steam plummeting out the sides of the engine and the whistle blowing. They even let you take your pet along. Really fun. (Yes, they come around and punch your ticket-hah!)
