The beach in this area is quite stunning, especially viewed from above. It's set among the steep mountainsides, rocks in the ocean and a very beautiful bridge. Worth stopping and viewing from above or even hiking down.

We stayed a week in a rental within walking distance to the beach. Every morning and evening we enjoyed a walk along this shoreline. What a beautiful, relaxing area! Miles and miles of Beach, sand dunes, rock formations - a combination of all together. We saw moon jellyfish fish, star fish and sand dollars on the beach. Very much enjoyed our stay!

I made the hike from the beach to the lighthouse, well worth it, and not overly strenuous. Most ages could make it. Not a good beach for swimming, but a picnic area is available.

Super cute beak in the shadow of the Heceta Head Lighthouse. Great for just hanging out or bring a kite.

We went here to see the lighthouse which is in a separate review. There is a 5.00 fee to park, and actually I think there are a lot of prettier beaches along the coast but the lighthouse is very worth the trip so of course you will see this beach.

Great open expanse of gorgeous beach. Wonderfully scenic and quite photogenic. Great ocean views.
It can get pretty windy here through so travel with many layers to stay warm...even in summer.

I found this beach to be a breathtaking experience; perhaps because I am accustomed to overdeveloped and polluted beaches on the east coast. I loved watching sea lions and whales pop their heads out of the water. i also loves exploring the various costal caves and tide pools. This spot is a hidden gem.

Was a very nice beach with a huge shoreline. One thing to keep in mind is that you should either by a pass to get to all the beaches or only select the ones that you really want to go to. While we were driving on the 101, I noticed that it cost about $5.00 to park at each of the parks. At that rate, the cost can all add up pretty quickly.

The beach has two parking areas, one next to the hotel, on the south side and the other is just north of the hotel. For the parking north you need a pass, the south parking is free. Both parking areas are really close to the beach and are an easy walk to get to the water. There aren't a lot of shells but you can find sand dollars there a lot of times. It can get windy there in the summer, so dress in layers and bring a kite. They don't have a leash law there, so your dog will have a blast. My favorite part is I've never seen it crowded there.

Hi all, can i let my dog fetch off leash at Heceta Beach? Well trained/voice control. But am reading conflicting things about off leash policy for this beach. Am renting a home next month in Florence, OR, right on the beach. Main activity = beach walks and fetch with dog. But worry that this beach doesn't allow off leash in winter. Hope this beach allows. If doesn't, what is nearest off leash beach for dogs in winter? Thank you.

Parking passes are purchased at the little self pay booth by the bathrooms.
