My 12-year-old daughter went on the 2-hour beach ride on her own for her birthday. She had never ridden before. The horse, Sampson, was perfect for her!! After coming out of the corral she said, “That was the best birthday present ever!” Her experience was top notch. The guides were very attentive to her and took pictures of her for us. The beach trotting was definitely her favorite part. Not once did she feel scared or uncomfortable. Definitely a perfect experience for someone her age!! Don’t be afraid to send them on their own...they will have a good time! She went on a Tuesday morning ride.

The staff and horses were fantastic. My two daughters, ages 13 and 8, and I had an amazing time. They rode James and Briars, while I rode Ace. It was a very windy day at the beach and James, Briars, and Ace, behaved perfectly…as did all of the other riders horses. We have five performance horses that we ride daily and I would have take Ace home if I could.

A great opportunity ride horses through forest and beach settings. It was a beautiful ride. I am an animal lover... it seemed the horses knew their job and did it well. The team of people providing the services were nice. It is a guided tour and I felt safe on the animal. Bring a jacket the beach is very windy. :)

As an experienced rider (own a horse and compete in three day eventing), I love this beach ride stable. I ride there every year when I go to the coast. I have ridden at several other places along the Oregon coast, and C & M Stables is without a doubt the best.
The guides are always professional, knowledgeable, and easy to get along with. Their horses are fantastic, and the stable does a good job of matching horse to rider. Very safety focused business. I would recommend them without hesitation.

Even though we were experienced horse owners I was given a horse that was bar none the worse horse I have ridden in 40 years. It never put its ears up (laid flat on it's head) and possessed every bad habit a sour horse can have! It turned what had been a vacation experience, looked forward to, into a regrettable $89 depressing memory. Next trip we will try the other stable.

Very reasonably priced for the quality of the tour. Went on the beginner tour at 2:15. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our guides did a great job keeping the group together. The ride takes you through a meadow, a forest, through the dunes and then out on the beach. The guides took pictures of everyone at the turn around point. Would definitely do it again.

This was a very picturesque, enjoyable and relaxing ride. The horses were all well behaved and knew their jobs without being robots! You could trot in groups or solo on the beach if you wanted to. Love this horse-pedestrian only beach!

When we first arrived we filled out the usual liability paperwork. We had our camelbacks with us to have some water on the hot 2 hour day trip we were heading out on,but were told just prior to leaving that no water was allowed. Then, all the horses appear to be so barn sour that every step is a labor to get away from it. Once we got to the beach access the view was beautiful and we were told we could trot the horses...good luck with that. Most of the horses have to be kicked multiple time before they will even consider doing this difficult feat and forget using the reins the horses have become so numb in the mouth the hardly react at all to what you want them to do. I would not recommend this stable to anyone. Go to a more reputible stable where the owners and employees still appear to love what they are doing.

Was told on the telephone to be there on time or they would ride without us and still be charged, we were on time as was everyone else riding, but ride started an hour and half late with no explanation as to why. No one spoke to us except what could minimally be said. They purposefully turned their backs to customers so they would not be engaged.
We were also told that the experienced riders would be able to ride faster once on the beach, we rode slowly the whole time with the horses always trying to ride back to the stables. When asked why riders could not ride faster they said that was a "different ride that we did not sign up for". Save your money and run on the beach and take photos!

So do you have to wear the helmet or can you just wear a hat or a cowboy hat if you are wearing one when you get there??? I been thinking about it...
Written September 6, 2017
Hi David,
All minors under 18 years of age are required by insurance regulations. Adults 18 and older may sign the helmet waiver and opt out of wearing the helmet. We do always suggest that all riders wear the helmet.

I am thinking about buying a go pro camera to wear on my helmet, is that an ok thing to do? Normally I would have my large digital camera but because it is large and the information sounds like that is discouraged I have a small pocket camera but it only takes average photos and videos.
thanks, Judy Hobday

Hi Judy,
Yes, using a Go Pro camera is OK, and some other guests have done so. Please mention the Go Pro when you make your reservation. However, we have found that it can be distracting and the results disappointing - unless you have lots of practice. That is, the camera is on top of your helmet and not very easy to operate while riding. As an alternative, unless you are going to use the Go Pro for other activities, you might be wiser to purchase a better quality "pocket" camera that can be carried with you on many occasions where your larger camera could be a nuisance. We look forward to your visit. Let's Ride.
