Example of WPA infrastructure project. One of several along route 101. I don't approve of deficit spending in general, but these bridges are an exception.

One of many of the beautiful bridges you take over the waterways on 101. I'm impressed with the concrete work - craftsmanship and design of the ornamental - which is being redone even today ! Very nice to see that !

Our hotel balcony overlooked this beauty. It is under construction right now which is only a minor distraction. It is most spectacular from below! Don't miss it!

This bridge is still pretty amazing even though it is undergoing some rehab right now. Our hotel was overlooking the river, and the bridge.

You will cross the Siuslaw River Bridge many times if you visit Florence's Old Town and it makes a nice backdrop for your photos. Not really a "thing to do", just something you will see with interesting architecture.

Lovely architecture. So many backgrounds for photographs. Look closely and you may find seals and ducks swimming underneath.

One of several bridges that were designed for function while being a visual piece of art. Repairs were being made during our visit so we missed out on walking across.

On our recent trip to Oregon we traveled much of the coast line and crossed over several of the historic Conde McCullough designed bridges. One of the most photogenic is the one that crosses the Suislaw River in Florence.

Another iconic bridge that gives the Oregon coast such a distinctive look. We drove over this bridge several times as we visited the coast. Every time we approached it was such an exciting view. There are spots in town to view from a parked position.

The bridge does have sidewalks, though one side was undergoing renovations when we were there. The locals were walking their bikes across the bridge on the sidewalk, and I strongly recommend you do the same (vs. forcing... More
