A lovely walk up a hill from the beach takes you through wooded areas with views of the surrounding sea stacks and cliffs. Today it was made more impressive because the fog was moving in and out quite quickly. The light house is beautiful. Halfway...More

Watching the Heceta Head lighthouse in operation at night is just an amazing experience. We did the tour during the day and came back 30 minutes before sunset and stayed at the lighthouse until just before the park closed at 9:00pm. It is not necessary...More

We hiked up the path to the lighthouse and it was fabulous. We had a great (free) tour. We also took some gab pictures. The history was great to hear.

A traveller interested in history should not miss out on this little gem along the coast. Heceta lighthouse is worth more than the photo from the parking lot along the coastal highway. It is allegedly the most photographed lighthouse along the coast and with its...More

You reach it after a half mile hike that is quite scenic and lined with wild blackberries. You learn about the history of the Oregon lighthouses and some of those who served them.

Even peering through the fog, it was obvious that it was a very beautiful lighthouse mainly due to the contrasting stone details around the windows and door. One day I hope to stay in the assistant lighthouse keepers' duplex which is now a bed and...More

Right off of Highway 101, easy to get to. The lighthouse is great as well as the beach and surroundings. 1/2 mile hike from parking lot and probably shorter from the road. Parking looked like it could be challenging on good weather days, but otherwise...More

While repairs are being done on the tower, no tours are allowed. However the tour guide in the historic light keeper's house is very knowledgeable. And the staff at the light gave interesting facts about the light and the restoration project. Families, couples, and groups...More

We came too early for the Lighthouse tour (11-4pm) but really enjoyed the 1/2 mile walk up. They have informative boards all the way up the walk. Beautiful views from the lighthouse!

There is a parking lot. The exit from Hwy. 101 is well marked. Park in the lot (restrooms and picnic area available) and walk the path up to the lighthouse. Both the lighthouse keeper's house and the actual lighthouse are... More

Yes - you can get there via a path which originates from the parking lot at the base of the hill. Heceta Head Lighthouse is at the top (about 1/3 of a mile up the hill with a light-to-moderate incline), with a beautiful 140... More
