Stopped here and did the short walk to the lighthouse. From there, I took the Heceta Head trail, which took me through beautiful wooded areas. There are stunning overlooks with views of the cliffs to the ocean. The trail meets up with Hobbit Trail, taking me down to Hobbit Beach, an area of pristine secluded beach. To save money, stop... Missed the tour but no problem, as we hiked up above the lighthouse...good view directly even with the lens etc. Then we kept on hiking thru the beautiful old growth rain forest, trail led to hobbit beach.

A nice uphill 1.5 mile walk up the path to the lighthouse. The docents were informative and friendly, even took photos of us,

This is a pretty lighthouse from a distance or up close. From the overlook off hwy 101 there were sea lions on the rocks. The hike up is partially paved. There is also a beach area there. This is also a stop for buses and tour groups.

Between the setting, the house on the property and the little hike to get to it, its very photogenic. Well preserved and still in use.

What a gorgeous lighthouse! It is definitely worth it to go on the tour. Although you cannot climb this lighthouse, it is enjoyable to learn about the history of the place from the volunteer guides. Also, be SURE to make the extra climb to see the lighthouse from high atop the hill....it gives a different perspective. We are very glad... More

The walk to the lighthouse is a bit strenuous as it is slightly uphill. The scenery along the way is breathtaking and well worth the hike. The staff was knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk with. The gift shop was open when we hiked up, however closed when we hiked backed down. So if it's open when you arrive make... More

We enjoyed this lighthouse more than the others as it had volunteers giving tours. The half mile trail was good to do first thing in the am. The beach area was also very nice.

The beach here is amazing. It's a gorgeous hike up to the lighthouse and our tour guide, Richard, was great. He was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the lighthouse. Definitely worth the hike up!

We love to visit lighthouses and this one is very unique. There are volunteer tour guides who give an interesting overview of what life was like for the lighthouse keepers and their families. Good stop, worth the time and hike up to it. There is also a nice gift shop part way up to the lighthouse where you can shop... More
