We booked a half hour sandrail tour and we weren't disappointed. Check-in was quick and they are very good about things being sanitized, even cleaned my debit card before handing it back to me. Our driver was Mike and he was very nice and great with my kids. We had a blast shooting over the Dunes going faster than I thought we would which was awesome! Definitely would do this again but for a full hour next time! Worth it!!!

Our family chose the “adventure” option which was the fast tour vs the scenic tour. The driver took us up and down the dunes at upwards of 60-70 mph speeds. We stopped at the beach and the driver took our photos. Great service, both in the phone to make the reservations and in person. Definitely recommend. Plus they offer military discount, but ask for it.

We were so thankful for the awesome customer service. We had booked a trip with another company, but when we arrived there was no one there. I called Sandland and they were very accommodating and got us on the dunes with in a couple of hours. So much fun! You go fast yet feel very safe. Gage was an excellent driver and very informative about the dunes and surrounding areas. We only booked a half hour trip, but wished we had done the hour one. Very reasonably priced as well. We will be back!

This company is terrible about not answering their phone to make reservations. My husband and I were having some connection problems with our phone service. We called a whole bunch of times leaving messages for a call back and it took them quite a while to call back. We kept playing phone tag. We were staying at a place in Yachats and needed to know if we could get a reservation before coming to Florence. We finally gave up and went with Sand Dunes Frontier. They are so great about answering their phones. Also, they don't take reservations so therefore you will not be charged if your plans happen to change. We were able to go for a fantastic thrilling ride with Sand Dunes Frontier. Too bad Sandland, my husband ended up tipping our driver a lot for our 30 min thrill ride. You might want to change your policy and have customer service answer the phone before you lose out again.

We are sorry you were staying in a poor reception area and we had a difficult time connecting. It sounds like we called you back but you were unable to answer. We return all our customers calls as soon as possible but your phone reception is out of our control.

Communication snafu led to our being given tickets to the wrong ride and being directed to the wrong pickup location. We were willing to overlook and reschedule but staff refused to take ownership for the mistake (although after a protracted and unpleasant conversation they eventually refunded the tickets), and rudely shut down my 13 yr old daughter when she bravely tried to intervene to clarify ("Is she the adult here? Is she the one with the credit card?"), leaving her and my 7 yr old daughter shaking and in tears. We will never return to this place.

well now I can add condescending and dishonest to my review. The problem with your tour now, is you are stuck behind other cars. You tried to inform me that I only smelled gas fumes when the cars were stopped. Unfortunately you smell gas fumes anytime you are going the trees. Then you tried to tell me how many people I had with me, like I some how can't count. I know I had 4 people before and 5 people this time. That isn't why it cost more. It was 50.00 the first time ( when I did an hour) and the third time it was 65.00. Then you tried to tell me I wasn't getting sand in my face from the car in front of me because it was abnormally windy. It's always windy here. I live here. I am aware. I was also watching the sand from the car in front of us, being thrown in our face. The driver did try to avoid that though at times. He was aware of the problem. He tried. It wasn't his fault. It's also cute that you tried to tell me you always have done it this way, even though the first 2 times I went, we weren't stuck behind another car. I even asked the driver about it. He said you were doing some kind of new "buddy system". I told him it wasn't as fun, and he agreed. I did feel bad for not being happy. I really did. I just know how wonderful it was when you aren't driving in a carvan with other buggies. I'm glad you consider safety. But it seem safer to have the cars spread out, so they can enjoy themselves without having to worry about crashing into the car in front of them, and your customers don't have to breathe in toxic gas fumes. If you go back to having the buggies not being so close together, than I will gladly refer guests to you again. But at this point, the system is terrible. Maybe you are training? IDK. If that was the case, than I would understand. But undermining your customers is messed up.

There was no option to choose type of visit “multigenerational” but that’s what we were...me, early 50s, Mom, early 80’s, and my two boys in their early 20’s; one with autism. Gage, our tour driver was totally awesome and realized the special needs of our group and really tailored it to our needs (e.g. please no rushing through puddles and making it herky-jerky the whole time!) The 1 hour tour took us to the beach and through all different kinds of environments, from dunes with banks, through forests, and it was such an adventure. I highly recommend it for families even in this era of Covid-19. We never stopped laughing and felt so light hearted if only for an hour! I would go again tomorrow if I lived nearby! 5 stars!

Worst company ever!! We got stuck behind a head on accident on highway 101 for and hour and half and missed our appt for ride. We tried calling for over an hour to let them know and they didn’t answer their phone, even left a message. We drove strait to the office and explained what happened and tried to reschedule but they said we would have to pay again. I totally under stand the no refunds etc for propel that flake and just don’t show. We did everything we could and they still refused to reschedule. It was beyond our control. Goes to show they don’t care about their customers

This is our second time on the Sandrail "rollercoaster" and we loved it just as much as we did the first time. I went with four kids ages 3-13. Thankfully my 3 yr old daughter is fearless because this ride can be pretty intense sometimes. My 7 yr old said he would give up all the money in his piggy bank just to go on this ride again.
Gage our driver did an awesome job of making things exciting in the beginning but also easing us into it. Once he realized we were ready for bigger things, he gave us an awesome ride. We all squealed a ton and loved it. I also thought Gage did a great job giving us history and details about the area any time we had to stop for just a second. It really makes you appreciate where you are.
I do have to say, last time we went, only one buggy went at a time and this time two went at the same time on the same path. I'm glad we were in the lead car, because I'm sure it wasn't as adventurous for the car behind us. I bet it was more fun for us not knowing where our driver would take us next, made it more exciting.

Fantastic thrilling ride. I’m planning on coming back again and again. Dress warm as it gets cold even on beautiful sunny days like we had today. I loved that we had short stops for the driver to explain what we were looking at and giving us great information about the dunes.

Did you do the one hour "slower tour," or the crazy fast- not for people with stomach flops ride? I'm hoping the one hour dune buggy ride is still fun, too!
Written July 19, 2019
Do the fastest one...its not too fast to where you are feeling motion sickness. Its just like a slow rollercoaster.
Written July 21, 2019
We rode ATVs in the Mojave dessert in Utah on the red sand dunes. It was great but more advanced as you drove your own vehicle. There was a guide to follow however. Perfect for adventurous types!

I noticed they offer a Sandrail tour AND a dune buggy tour. What is the difference? Is Sandrail the fast one and the dune buggy is the slower, more scenic one?
Written June 15, 2019
Yes, the Sandrail tour is the fast one. We did the dune buggy tour and our driver provided great commentary about the area. We really enjoyed it!
Written July 20, 2019
How bad is the bumpiness of the 1 hour fast ride? I can handle rafting, medium roller coasters, and ATV rides but I get sea sick on long boat rides. They have a warning for motion sickness on their website.
Written June 16, 2018
Shawn was so great—he would go all out for maybe 10 minutes, then stop to give everyone a break and make sure you were Ok. For my husband and myself, it was not the bumpiness, it was climbing up a large dune and not knowing how steep the decent was. Only once did I feel my stomach lift like on a roller coaster. But it was worth every moment!

I would like to know if you did the 30 min or 1 hour tour. We are bringing a 5 and 7 year old and were wondering if the one hour is too long. Thank you!
Written June 10, 2018
We did the 30 minute tour, but wished we had done the 1 hour tour. If I had my 5 year old granddaughter with me though, I'd probably opt for the 30 minute ride.
Written June 11, 2018
What is the minimum age requirement to ride?
Written February 6, 2018
Email and ask them. We had small children on our one hour trip...no crying!
Every age was happy and wanted more!
Probably depends on the individual child ...needs to SIT down! No "free range children"

Do you need to make advanced reservations? Is there an option to rent and drive your own buggy, or only guided ones?
Written July 7, 2017
I cannot remember the pricing I believe $35 was accurate per person. Definitely check out the website. We did the half hour excursion it was great. Better than not what I expected. You will not be disappointed. We cannot wait to take our grandchildren with us would be a great memory for them.
