Beautiful location and some very nice wines
Aug 2021 • Couples
After a totally forgettable visit to King Estate, we were pleasantly surprised by this beautiful tasting room and some wonderful wines. The drive through the thick forest and by the lake, up to the tasting room set the stage
We were the only ones there for about 45 minutes-just the way we like it. We asked all the questions we wanted without worrying about monopolizing the server. We are bold red drinkers, but left with a Gruner Veltliner, a Rose of Temperanillo, and an estimate Pinot Noir with a promise (to ourselves) to return. Do yourselves a favor and visit this winery! We are glad we did.

Great Bisit

Absolutely great Syrah Port. I’m drinking my last very small glass this evening, a year after opening it. Highly recommended.

Lovely Setting

We enjoyed our visit to Chateau Lorane. The server was very nice and offered to open any wines we requested. Tastings were inexpensive. (I believe they were $3 for 3 tastes or $5 for 6 tastes.) The tasting room overlooks a pretty lake and there is also a separate party venue.

Gorgeous winery-one of the prettiest! Bad customer relations...
May 2017
I would have provided pictures, but I didn't get a chance to take any before we were rudely shooed from the property. This winery is one of the prettiest in our area. It has a private lake and is surrounded by trees and greenery. Breathtaking. We happened by over Memorial Day weekend and, since the gate was still open, we thought they might be open later in the evening because of the holiday (it was about 7:30). We drove down to the parking area and were eyed suspiciously by the staff who were there. Noting that no one was still at the event, we left, but stopped on the way out to get a view of the lake. We were there for less than 5 minutes and had gotten out for a quick stroll to the lake side to take pictures. Within moments, a man in a truck was driving quickly down the road we had just turned off of, stopped where we had our car parked, got out and asked us, "What are you doing?" We replied that we had stopped in because we thought their Memorial Day event was still happening and then stopped by the lake on the way out because it was so pretty. The man replied by saying that the property was "not for just anyone to walk around on" and we needed to leave. My husband apologized and again stated that we thought the MD event was still going on because the gate was open (the one that said no trespassing if the gate was CLOSED and that all visitors were by appt only). The man said that it stated VERY CLEARLY on the signs that it was by appt only. We left without more interaction with this rude individual other than to experience his reversal in attitude to invite us to come back the next day when they were open again. Not a chance, we thought, but we thanked him and went on our way. We felt that it was highly inappropriate to treat potential customers this way, particularly when they were having a large, weekend-long event where presumably "just anyone" could come and probably without an appt. Some courtesy to let us know that they were closed for the day and to extend the invite for the next day would have been enough to get us to come back and to continue to consider them for an event for which we are still in need of a venue. Won't happen now. At least there are a lot of other stellar wineries in the area and with far less rude staff. Even King Estate, the most "hoity-toity" of the wineries in the area, knows how to politely tell customers they are closed and to please return again during open hours.

Potential in location...but wines seemed to fall flat.

An enchanting location, but the wines seem to lack quality. I admit this could just be personal preference, but usually there is atleast one or two wines that are interesting.

The atmosphere was boring and actually kind of uncomfortable. There was no music playing and we were the only ones at the property so it felt very odd. When we walked in the doors, no one was present as the employee was doing office work in the back but came out shortly thereafter to assist us. The muscat was the only wine that was palatable – the rest we poured out after a sip. She was very helpful and opened bottles we desired to taste but unless the atmosphere and wine changes, we won’t be back.

The grounds are beautiful, but the wine is lacking
May 2016 • Friends
My friend and I visited during a Memorial Day weekend event and each got a tasting of 15 wines for $8. I have to say...the wines smelled amazing, but when I tasted them, they really lacked the character and flavor I was hoping for. They tasted a little watery and dull. I thought the desert wines were good, especially the port, but not quite good enough for me to purchase.

The regular tasting room/building was closed during this event, so I can only review their pond-side special events center. The building itself looks pretty from the outside but seems a little run down on the inside. The outside seating area looks out over a beautiful pond. A swan has taken up residence in the pond, and I think I saw a bald eagle flying overhead, so there is plenty of wildlife around. The gardens are small but nice, and might be a good place to host a small wedding. I wonder if they would let you bring your own wine, though.

I should live here!

Oh my, what a delightful setting in the trees along the river. The porch is where I would spend a lot of time. This place is isolated. For a gal from the east coast it is another world.
The tasting room is small but the staff is extremely pleasant. The vineyard produces small quantities of some very good local wines. The prices per bottle are reasonable.
They have fun social events.

Lovely little gem!

We were fortunate enough to attend the Memorial Day tasting at the event center under the main winery! What an oasis! We loved the lake and the wines were good. We felt the event was understaffed, with a bit of chaos, but we loved the place!

A Great Whine!!

After reading the previous reviews, I was very reluctant to visit Chateau Lorane. We arrived on a day during the week when the tasting room was not open. After getting out of the car and walking around the beautiful deck, I noticed a guy in jeans working on the water system. We approached him, asked if there was anyone working the tasting room and he echoed the posting of being closed. However, he asked" what are you looking for?" We explained our desire to learn more about Chat. Lorane and their reputation. To our surprise, he introduced himself by saying " I can help you, I'm Linde. I own this place". The next hour and a half was spent sharing stories and Exceptional wines. The Malbec and Marchal Fouche were openned and sampled. . . unbelievable!! If you are serious about tasting great wines, Chateau Lorane has an award winning spectacular variety, collection and vintage of wines! If you are coming to be entertained, catching a buzz or socializing, join the crowds at another winery and whine about the poor selection and quality. Be patient and enjoy a wonderful experience at Chateau Lorane. PS We purchased a case(our only purchase) of various Chateau Lorrane wines after visiting 7 other wineries and no desire to visit any other vineyard/winery.
