Hendricks park is a bit difficult to get to. The road in is steep and narrow and I always go by car. Admission is free and once in the park, parking is free but somewhat limited.
Hendricks park is nestled in an evergreen forest and there is a very large Rhododendron garden that is quite beautiful in the summer time and is the parks main attraction.
As mentioned the roads are narrow and somewhat steep so I don't consider them good walking paths.

We love to take this drive during the blooming season of the Rhododendrons. Such a vast array of colors. You could get lost but it is really fun to explore. We like to go on the opposite side and down the hill to see that area too. There are various areas to park, picnic benches, and restrooms too.

Beautiful and seasonal! In spring the air is full of floral scents! Walking is up and down hills on asphalt paths. Wheelchair friendly, and has many great photo spots. Not for people with allergies to flowers. easy access for parking as well. Not a huge Amount of parking spots though.

Hendricks Park is a Eugene gem, and a beautiful place to visit any time of the year. April and May are prime time to visit the gorgeous rhodedendron gardens. It is also a lovely place for a picnic, or a hike along the numerous forested trails. It is a peaceful place, with towering Douglas Fir Trees.

Hendricks Park (aka Rhododendron Park) is lovely. Located on a hillside above the University area, this park features well-maintained paths and a beautiful park-like lawn, perfect for weddings or picnics. We like to come here from April to June, when the rhodies are at their peak. Across the road from the rhododendron garden are some great trails, if you prefer a hike.

Just up a hill a couple blocks off a city street and you're in old-growth tall timber. It's cool under the trees where the light is filtered through green boughs. There's an old timber and stone picnic spot just at the top of the hill and fork in the road. If one goes right it's a pretty drive down through beautiful old homes and lush green foliage to Fairmount Blvd. If one turns left one can choose to stop and walk through a world-class, labeled Rhododendron Garden before driving down the hill to Pre's Trail and back into town.

Going to Hendricks Park-which hosts a plethora of trees and shrubs-can make for a nice relaxing trip. In April and May, make sure you go to the Rhododendron gardens to absorb all the vibrant Rhodies. Below it, there is a an area with picnic tables and swings. Additionally, you are near Pre's Rock.

This park is famous around Eugene as a must see for all visiting friends and family members. The trails are nicely maintained and range from flat to moderately steep so they are good for all ages and abilities. The spring is a great time to go as the azaleas and rhododendrons will be in full bloom. The other plants are pleasantly arranged however and in the warm months something is always blooming. However I find that it really doesn't matter what time of year you go, it is always a pleasant place to walk and talk with friends. Restrooms are available as well as a picnic and playground area to the south of the main flower garden.

This park is one of the reasons we love Eugene (and Oregon, for that matter). Such a serene and comfortable place and so alive on warm days. Plus, a fantastic place to go on Mother's Day when all the rhodies are in bloom. If you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of a beautiful Ragdoll-looking kitty who would love to play catch with you and help you locate your ball amongst the flowers. Don't forget the camera! Lots of portrait opportunities.

I grew up in Eugene and spent many days walking here with my father, Dr. David Williams. This park is beautiful in the spring when the Rhodys and Azalea are in bloom, but also lovely in the fall when the air its crisp and fresh. One of three last places I visited with my father, we didn't leave the car, walking was difficult for him, but he still enjoyed the view from the windows. Great for all ages.
