On a recent Eugene visit, we surveyed the local boutique distillery scene and made a exciting discovery, Thinking Tree Spirits. It is a small "farm to flask distillery" with a cocktail and sampling bar. In the evenings they serve very creative cocktails, some new concoctions and some 20th Century classics. Our visit included first sampling their Main Stage Vodka. It was smooth and comparable to any more costly high ends vodkas. We also sampled the Whiteaker Rum and Gifted Gin. The highlight was the Chocolate Rum. It's a wonderful specialized dessert rum for for anyone's liquor cabinet. One other note. We were at Thinking Tree late in the afternoon. They were trying new coctails for the evening. As they mixed and experimented, we got small sips to sample. My favorite was a Vesper: lillet, gin, lemon, and vodka. It was from the 1920s or 1930s. Superb! Go to Thinking Tree! It is fabulous.
