My niece had warned us of this road and the grade up. It was so windy but oh so beautiful. We had stopped to take a picture and I just jumped as it was still chilly because there was a snake laying there as I was going to pick up a rock that scared the heck out of me and then there was a poor cow on the side of the road that couldnt get over the road barrier and it was a deep drop down the other way. It was quite the adventure but not bad when you got down the other side

This road is not for the faint of heart and Dramamine in the mix would not hurt. There is not short cut from here to there. This is rugged country. Love it!!!

Have driven the hwy in mostly spring, summer, and fall. First time in the winter. Luckily it wasn't very icy/snowy in the canyons and road was well graveled where there was. This is NOT a fast trip and can be very dangerous if one is not careful. There can be rockfall in the road, idiot drivers, and animals. We saw someones truck being hauled out of the canyon at about the Oregon/Washington state line last Sunday on the way home. No ice or snow either, must have been speeding and hit gravel. This being said, the views are spectacular! Especially with snow in the canyons. Be sure to take a camera and binoculars. Take your time and check out the pull-outs and the Joseph Canyon Overlook. It takes around 2 hours driving time from the Lewiston/Clarkston valley to Enterprise, Or. Bear in mind that there are no stores or gas stations along the way and cell coverage is spotty when you can get it (even with Verizon). Well worth the drive any season, though

First time I rode this it was raining. This time it was dry. What a fun ride on a motorcycle. Nice tight corners and a few straights. It's tough though because you want to look at the scenery but got to focus on the road. Road surface was smooth and little to no gravel in the corners.

The road has been recently repaved and patched so of you are yearning on a motorcycle be careful! Other than that a great road.
