Caesar made our day!
Dec 2021 • Couples
Occasionally, when you visit a winery, you are lucky enough to have a host of your tasting that makes it an absolutely magical and unforgettable experience… this was our great fortune at Domaine Drouhin with Caesar. He is a bundle of kindness, warmth and knowledge and brought us along on amazing tales of the wines we were enjoying. His enthusiasm is palpable and took our visit to the next level! We cannot thank you enough, Caesar for making our day!

Not worth it, there are plenty of other wineries in the area that are happy to accommodate and have nice ambience

Very pretentious place with unfriendly staff. 10 minutes late to our appointment with nobody in the place and we were turned down, siting that our table could not be held any longer.
The only thing they have going for them is the nice view over the valley and Mt.Hood on a sunny day. The wines are horribly overpriced.

Very Nice Wines With a View
Sep 2021
Our sommelier was all knowing - a fountain of very interesting and educational information. The wines were really lovely. The views from the outdoor tasting room were expansive and beautiful. It was a warm sunny day and the deck was a great place to sample the Domaine Drouhin wines.

Nice wines in a French style
Oct 2020
Very nice experience. We’d actually met the winemaker herself at an event in Chicago a few months before our visit to her Oregon winery; we were drawn to taste here because of the French connection and winemaking style. The winemaker was totally lovely and it’s nice that this place is family-run. Truly dedicated to the craft of winemaking!

Beautiful views from the tasting room, and a nice tasting experience with a knowledgeable and friendly member of the staff. Not our favorite tasting experience in the area, but certainly worth a visit.

A lovely selection of wines…lots to like about them! Again, they ended-up not being our favorite wines among the many we tasted while in the region, but they are nevertheless high quality, well-made wines, and a visit here is worth the stop.

Great tasting wines, nice views
Jun 2021
Had a beautiful day for our visit to Domaine Drouhin. Patrick was a wonderful host and a knowledgeable sommelier. Outdoor seating is covered so protected if it decides to rain yet still can enjoy the air and views. Our tasting flight was excellent. Although Domaine wines are at the higher end of the Oregon pinot noir country there are several vintages that are definitely worth the price.

Generally good experience, but I expected a bit better
Nov 2020
On a recent trip to the Willamette Valley for wine tasting, our first stop was Domaine Drouhin. We had read good things about it, and we wanted to do their unique “1880 Connection” side-by-side tasting of Oregon wines against French wines from Maison Joseph Drouhin. We thought it would be a great introduction to Willamette Valley pinots, while also getting a unique chance to judge against the Burgundian wines that Oregon pinots are often compared to. Overall, the experience was fine. However, certain things about the experience could have been better and were a little disappointing.

We visited on a very chilly, rainy Saturday in November, and we were definitely hoping for a cozy wine tasting experience. Even in the rain, we noticed how lovely the winery’s setting is in the hills, and the building where tastings are held is very nice. However, once we entered, we were a bit disappointed to find that we were seated on an outdoor deck, which was fully enclosed with tenting, but was still very cold and damp. There were tables inside the building that had a much nicer ambiance than where we were seated, and I also noticed that there was a second enclosed deck that looked warmer than ours, with multiple freestanding heaters near the tables. Our deck had some sort of heat vent on the ground, but even though we were sitting near it, it really didn’t produce any noticeable heat. It was just frustrating to have made our reservation far in advance, booked the more expensive of their two tastings, and still end up in the least desirable seating area. I also noticed that groups that were seated in our same area later in the morning were offered blankets when they arrived, but which would have helped, but were not offered to us.

Despite not loving the setting, the tasting experience proceeded in a fine manner. The host for our tasting was very nice and took us through a general introduction to Domaine Drouhin and the relationship between the Oregon and French wineries, followed by a comparative tasting of chardonnays from each region, and then two separate comparative pinot noir tastings, for a total of six wines to taste, three Oregonian and three French. The host would come and pour each set of wines, and then leave us to discuss them for a while before coming back with the next pours. We found it a little odd that the small carafes he brought the wine in consistently had smaller amounts of the Oregon wine as compared to the French wine, and I’m not sure why that was the case.

Overall, we did like the wines at Domaine Drouhin, but none really stood out to us in particular. I can’t exactly say what it was about their wines, but they just weren’t as remarkable as what we tasted at some other wineries in the area. We weren’t enamored enough with any wine in particular to want to buy any to take home with us.

I think one thing that also turned us off from Domaine Drouhin a bit was that we felt like the table next to us was getting a much better experience. Although our host was friendly and helpful, he didn’t spend all that much time with us, while the table next us (who had a different host) was getting a lot more interaction and attention throughout the experience. Although they were there for the same tasting as us, they were offered a special pour of an older vintage toward the end, and seemed to be getting a lot of education and information, while we weren’t offered anything extra at all. It wasn’t a huge deal, but it just didn’t feel like we were getting the best experience possible, first based on the area where we were seated and then based on the quality of the service once we were there. Domaine Drouhin was perfectly nice and a good enough tasting experience, but it’s not a winery I would run back to in comparison to some others we visited in the Willamette Valley.

Not accommodating.
Oct 2020 • Couples
Had a tasting at 3pm, we were late but were told that we could still taste if we got there before 330, which we did. Told us we couldn't taste even for half of the tasting. Tastings are at least an hour, clearly the lady was in a bad mood, so told us to still pay for the tasting buy wine, oh and we can't even drink it on property. I'll never be back. So many other great wineries in the area, skip these fools. We felt bad we would of tipped well and bought lots of wine. Huge mistake. Im telling all my friends. Boo.

Nice tastings
Sep 2020 • Couples
Stopped in for visit during the pandemic. We had a private tasting with Ed. We sampled 6 wines from 2 different appellations. We enjoyed them all. We were disappointed to not taste their French Pinots as a comparison to the Oregon Pinots but overall a good tasting. Nice tasting room.

Amazing Staff & Wine tasting Experience
Jul 2020
Patrick greeted us at the front of the winery. He was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He did an amazing job explaining everything to us as we tasted the different wines. He was careful to listen to what we liked and what our experience was with each wine that we tasted. We absolutely loved everything that we tried.
You cannot beat the gorgeous view from their deck. My husband and I had a fabulous time! Thank you!
