Greatgrandma and greatgrandkids.

Took my 6 year old autistic greatgrandson and my 2 year old great grandaughter. The trail is steep in places. Lots of rocks and roots. We only went from the Mather Parking lot up to the Loop Trail and back to the parking lot. We all walked all the way. Great hike.

Thank you, Trip Advisor. What a great slice of heaven in an urban/type area. A wonderful place of peace.

Outta town and found a gem
Jul 2018 • Business
Stayed in Clackamas and couldn’t believe I was this close to this Trail. I enjoyed the sound of the birds and beautiful scenery that captured my eyes to appreciate the dense thickness of Mount Talbert. I had to hike it twice cuz I started late on the first day. A quick change of scenery and appreciation of the Douglas firs and tall oak trees.

Local spot for a nice walk
Jul 2018 • Solo
I go here regularly because it’s close to home and it’s a pleasant place to get some exercise. There are quite a few entrances, so if you walk to the park, you don’t have to enter and leave from the same point. I like to combine the Park Loop trail with the Summit trail for about 90 minutes of walking with enough elevation changes to make it somewhat challenging.

Great trail in the city!

Visiting from out of town for Christmas, I was happy to discover this trail off Sunnyside Road. It is a lovely scenic trail away from the traffic. I was surprised dogs are not allowed.

Park and Walk
Sep 2017 • Family
This awesome place to walk is at the top of our street. It has a large parking lot to park and then walk the beautiful mountainside. No dogs are allowed which is a bummer but many people don't follow this rule. You will see rabbits, deer, and many different birds. So nice to not have Mt. Talbert filled with houses, but instead these hiking trails. Bathrooms available as well.

Hidden hike in town
Jul 2017 • Solo
Read other reviews for exact trail head specifics -this is a little mount right smack in the middle of a neighborhood -I usually walk /hike this when I'm in town for business -what a delightful alternative to a street of busy vehicles or a treadmill -so I have entered from the smaller entrance -if you are waking from the road -u have to pass through a condo property -it is a nice walk -but a very good incline -you will feel like you have already done a little work before you've started the actual trailhead -the trailhead is quiet -wooded -& has an abundance of birds -other Wildlife is scarce -though you will probably see a rabbit & maybe some deer if you are lucky -the loops are about 45 minutes -maybe 1.5-1.8 miles -pretty easy -tennis shoes are all you need -higher trailheads are more steep -warning -if you don't loop around, you will come out on other side -several miles from where you started - nice walk -or a step above a walk -but not too strenuous -you might see another fellow hiker or maybe not ...

Lovely Park

Just the right difficulty level for me and my arthritic hips. It's a beautiful nature park. Too bad folks still take their dogs -- the signs are clearly posted.

A walk in the forest.
Jun 2017 • Solo
If you like to walk in the middle of an urban forest, Mt Talbert Nature Trail is for you! There are five entrances to the park, the main ones are on SE Mather Road, which has parking, a water fountain and restrooms, the other from SE 117th and Sunnyside Road, which has only 5 dedicated parking spots. From SE Sunnyside Road, it takes about 1/2 mile to reach the approximately 2 mile trail that loops around Mt. Talbert. The nature trail is narrow and challenging due to stones and roots sticking out from the ground and to some parts that are fairly steep, so physical fitness is a must. Posts with a map of the trail are located at each of the entrances, or to guide you to the summit of Mt. Talbert (about 750 ft.). The silence, broken by the chirping of the birds, accompanies you while you walk and the occasional deer, or rabbit crossing the trail will enhance your experience. No dog are allowed on the trail.
