Actually I have not been in the forest itself, but TR does not list other local attractions
- Crack in the ground - a geological fault, where you can walk in between the tall walls, and experience being...in the crack :)
- Green Mountain lookout - open to the public, the fire tower offers a 360 degree view of the area, mainly the nearby Devil's Garden, four craters lava field.
There is also Derrick cave, but the access is now very difficult because a land owner is illegally blocking the fire road that provides access to it.
You can try to go around thru Cabin lake road (next to Fort Rock) turn on NF-22 and then...trying to find your way in. The Cabin Lake resort(?), has also camping and bird watching opportunities
There is also an Ice Cave west of that intersection on nf-22
The Sand Dunes are worth to see and walk on, but stay to the west, and walk around the restricted use area - btw, the first campground is best to stay away from all the OHV people, but it's even more primitive, and you better have a bit more car's clearance
Further south, you have the lakes with some bird wildlife, and Hart Mountain Antelope refuge 9 worth to go see it and stay near the hot springs they have on the top area

Interesting to know about this forest but you need a quad to go through it! You should also have a suv to get there. Long, dusty, bumpy road! We had trouble finding all the sites around because they aren’t marked very good at all.

A cool forest of Pine trees where Pine do not usually grow. Dusty and rough road. 4 wheel drive recommended.

We drove from Bend to see the Lost Forest and really it's not worth the trip. To make it more worthwhile I suggest going to the Park, visiting the Central Oregon Sand Dunes, and Fossil Lake all within a short drive.
