Tolovana Wayside is basically a jump off point to the beach, but still a great place to stop. If you don't mind walking a little bit, this is a nice spot to exercise and walk to Haystack Rock. Lots of open beach here to stroll. Maybe 20 minutes tops to get to the rock. There is a play area and restaurant near the lot if one wants. Tolovana might not be fancy, but it is still fun.

Tolovana Beach is one of the best spots to sit and watch sunset in Cannon Beach! Gorgeous Haystack Rock views. Easy access from parking lot to beach. Highly recommend!

Located at the south end of Cannon Beach, this state park is free and offers beautiful beach access to the stretch of beach including view of Haystack rock. There is a public parking and a great grocery store, Fresh Foods, just across the street. Grab some sandwiches and drinks and enjoy a picnic on the beach. Fly a kite and go take photos of the Rock. It's a beautiful area.

The beach is clean with nice white sand. The beach is wide so you don't have to worry as much about the tide coming in. It's a nice walk from here to Haystack Rock or in the other direction are also some nice rock formations to walk to.

If you're familiar with the Goonies, you may recall a road race on the beach at the start of the movie. This is that beach. I've been wanting to come here and nearby Astoria ever since I was a kid growing up in the 1980s, and this visit was akin to being on a pilgrimage. If you're a fan of the Goonies movie, you'll understand where I'm coming from.

You'll find plenty of ample parking at Tolovana State Park, plus it's free! It wasn't at all crowded, and I stayed for almost an hour. But, I did visit in late April, so I can't say for certain how crazy it may get during the summer months. The weather was perfect, sunny and with almost no clouds. Take a moment to look over the signs at the stairs that lead to the beach. Puffins nest on the rocks starting in April, and I'm sure I saw one or two, but it was hard to tell for certain.

The Oregon coast is stunning, and only a 1.5 hour ride from Portland (which is also very scenic as you pass through farmland, mountains and forest). Make it a point to come visit the beach at low tide, and you can walk right up to Haystack rock and check out the tidal pools.

After here, you can go into the town of Cannon Beach, park in a public lot and do a little shopping or grab a bite to eat.

This place has restrooms (not super clean, but functional) right on the ocean, and next door to Mo’s, not the best clam chowder, but pretty good.

We weren't sure what to expect staying at the south end of town but we were happy we did. The park is right next to the beach. The beach is less crowded that the main part of Cannon Beach so our dog could chase balls and sticks and my wife setup a fire on the beach in the evening. One block south on the south side of the Tolovana Inn there are bunnies that come out to eat and soak up the sun. They are fun for the kids to watch.

This has all the things...free parking, restrooms and immediate beach access. We walked all the way up to Haystack Rock, then had a small picnic and walked back. A nice stop for an hour or more AND you can bike the beach!

Great access to the beach, either by stairs or wheelchair ramp. Beautiful view of Haystack Rock. Restrooms and faucets to wash sand off feet. Large parking lot to accommodate large vehicles or motorhomes. Mo's restaurant next door or a grocery store across the street if you want to buy food and have picnic on the beach. You can walk for miles in either direction.
