I have been intrigued by it as I’ve driven by it a couple times and finally took the time to take a little tour.
I found this memorial very touching and informative. It is small enough that you can pay a visit even if you don’t have a lot of time.
There is a number you can dial to follow along with a audio tour. The info is posted on the wall on the west side of the memorial. The audio tour is part of Oregon’s Mt. Hood Heritage Trail series. It is # 9 in the series. Text “hood” to 57682 & followed the link to the mobile site.
While I was there, and there was a man lovingly doing some repair work there.
He clearly has devotion and dedication to this memorial.
He was also kind enough to take a picture of me and my dog with Telnet statue with the three soldiers.
Thank you veterans for your service and for all of those that are dedicated to caring for this memorial.

This is a great Vietnam Era Memorial that was originally conceived and eventually led in the building there of by Mike Breshears of Canby. The Land it is on was donated by Burgerville, where you can park. It is located right on the the Highway coming from the south on 99E. You will be impressed by the statues and Huey Helicopter on display.

The memorial is a beautiful remembrance of the Vietnam War with a real Medevac Huey Helicopter, a Buddhist Bell and a bronze statue depicting the heroics, compassion and humanity of the war. There is a website where you can read about the memorial before you go. At the memorial there is plenty of signage describing each item. There are places to sit and when I went today there was nobody there so I had an opportunity to reflect on my time in the Army Medical Corps 1968-1973.

Years in the planning, the memorial is complete. Worth a detour if you are going to or from Portland from the south.
Original Huey, bronze sculpture and beautiful grounds.

The people from Oregon are proud for serving the Korean and Vietnam wars.
I have seen the Blue Star in different places.
They honored these heroes. They fought for the United States.
There was a canon as well near the plaque.
Worthwhile to see!

A very moving Memorial with a Huey hovering, and a statue with a vet carrying a wounded soldier that is so detailed it will amaze you. Memorial bricks with family and friends names dedicated to those who served.

It's not a huge memorial. But with the UH-1 Huey hovering overhead and the statue placed as though the soldier and his friend are waiting for extraction, you feel as though you have stepped into a moment. You can tell that there was a lot of love and care that went into the planning of this place of memory and honor. My boys never pass up an opportunity to stop and scamper in the shadow of the helicopter--they appreciate all who serve and have served to protect this country, and it is beyond cool to them that such a memorial could include an actual military helicopter.
