Interesting road with view winds down to harbor.
Many interesting restaurants there(all with lots of local flavor and look llike they have been there a hundred years(maybe they have).
Sculpture garden shop down in the harbor a delight to walk through. Wonderful, interesting woman manager!

Brookings is a nice city right over the CA border. They have more amenities than some of the other coastal towns in OR. Many water sport activities. Large watersport center at the Brookings port which offers whitewater rafting on the river.

Boy - this is really a great asset for this area! The boats are so protected from any rough seas. But even beyond that there are nice amenities here on land too - nice and clean restrooms, great little cafe, visitor's center, and the sheriff's office.

Experienced a entitled Kevin , at your port . Slim, 60's , glasses, curly brown and gray hair. Believes , he owns the beach and ocean !!
Condescending, rude, hostile, ARONGANT, entitled man ! Walking away, he will step in front of you !! WHILE STILL SCREAMING AT YOU !!
NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE...heard through rv grapevine, Brookings to Gold Beach from flag pole to jetty.. Be aware !! Now I know the terrible experience first hand.

I saw the harbor first while we were driving. The harbor is located across the Chetco River in Brookings.
I was attracted by that harbor. We went for a walk on the boardwalk.
All the boats were well moored. It was really calm. It was noon.
At the harbor there were several info panels.
One of the info panels attracted me. On March 11th, there was a tsunami in this harbor. The tsunami had traveled from Japan to Brookings.
There was massive damage on the boats and the harbor. Six boats sunk.
Still, this is an attractive harbor.
A must see!

It was fun reading the different boat names and to see the different variety of boats. There is a path from the beach that goes to the decks to get to the boats and the parked RV's that is easy to walk.

We spent a couple of hours here shooting the fishing fleet. The place is busy all hours and is a wonderful place to shoot images.

Drove past the port which is a busy working port of mainly fishing boats. In the evening watched the boats returning to port from our B&B set on the cliff overlooking the port

Great area for beach front camping, walks on the beach, camp fires for roasting marsh mellows and visiting with friends and family.

Either walking among the fishing fleet or stopping for pizza and beer or ice cream or coffee, the board walk is beautiful. Gulls constantly swoop and the waves brush the sand and the salty smell is perfect.

Yes. Brookings is a BIG dog loving town. We'll behaved pets are welcome in some restaurants - always ask, never assume. Many gorgeous beaches and hikes, too. Ask your ranger/or camp host for directions. If you like, you can also walk a dog at the local shelter. Have a wonderful time! Woof!
