Peaceful and quiet.

The water level was down a bit, but it was a great place to see the Perseid (meteor showers). There is camping, kayaking, fishing, hiking . . . .

My first kayaking experience was here today -amazing. Views like you won't believe. Great photo ops at every Bend (pun intended) in the lake. A truly magical place for one to combine with nature.

Went kayaking with the hubbins. Lots of space, great scenery, smooth water, plenty of places to take out and enjoy lunch or go for a hike. It's not a long drive from Bend but that means there are lots of people! Fortunately, there was a gray sky so most folks left, thinking a storm was imminent. The storm never passed... More

Although the crowds have increased exponentially over the last couple of years, Sparks is still a family favorite to canoe on once or twice a year. Easy access from Bend, Sparks provides for shallow paddling, calm waters and spectacular views of the Cascades surrounding it. Nice beaches and coves can be found and used to get away from the boat... More

With two young kids (9 & 6) we paddled the entire length of the lake. Clear, shallow water; lots of nooks & crannies to explore; incredible panoramic view of South Sister, Broken Top and Mt. Bachelor; plenty of wildlife. Get there early, endure the chilly temps and you will be rewarded with seclusion. Mid-to-late morning the place gets crowded even... More

There are a number of lakes to the SW of Bend that are worth visiting - maybe as you drive north towards Bend. This one is famous for its history of photography. There is a beautiful walk - circular but not round the whole lake - that you must do. Takes about 30 - 40 mins. IT detours over old... More

Can't say enough about Sparks lake. Beautiful place, easy to get to, and plenty of room to park and launch our kayaks. The lake is spectacular in its scenery and the water is crystal clear and smooth for all types of paddling. There are lots of areas around the lake to pull off, and enjoy a lunch on a lakeside... This location is truly magical with the beauty of all nature has around you, there are mountain, lakes, forest, and wildlife. Lots of people kayaking, paddle boarding, and enjoying the outdoors. Remember it's in the mountains so cooler than down in Bend.

The water is clear and cold, the mountains still had snow. 90 in Bend, 73 at Sparks lake. Ray knew the deal, Sparks lake is top three lakes in Oregon for beauty... More

This is a great place to kayak! It also has many trails for hiking and go further than the pavement and the hiking is really great!
