Sparks Lake is a beautiful place for a hike at altitude in the High Desert and also a great place for kayaking. We went in spring when the lake was pretty full from the spring melt. Apparently by end of summer it’s a lot less...More

Drove up to Dparks Lake to hike. The snow had started fallen no the evening before so the area was covered in snow. Absolutely beautiful!

Just a short drive down a stone road off the main highway between Mount Bachelor and Bend. You can park at the side of the stone road and there are many paths from the road to the lake, many only a few hundred fee. Good...More

One of the alpine lakes that dot the Cascade Lakes Highway, Sparks is on of the more accessible. There is a road (dirt) which takes you back to the boat ramp. No amenities, but great for camping, hiking, fishing or floating.

We exited off the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway onto a gravel road that led us to the Ray Atkenson Memorial trail and Sparks Lake. There were several campers and fisherman along the road which terminated at a parking lot with access directly to the lake...More

This place is breathtaking, and offers a beautiful lake to kayak or canoe, with a backdrop of the Cascades and Mount Bachelor.

The road from Route 372 down to Sparks lake is gravel and then dusty dirt (about a mile) but the lake is scenic and has several trails.

Reading other reviews, it gets busy here. Yes, I think the locals all know to come here. The lake is so beautiful and clear. It's shallow so you can walk pretty far out if you want. We came to hike around the lake but we...More

Great spot to get away and enjoy nature. Be advised the parking lot is a zoo and seems to be packed every day during summer. Bald Eagles, osprey, and many other wildlife. Not many fish though.

Excellent for both. Lots of paddle boarders and kayakers. The lake is shallow for its size. VERY crowded, especially on weekends. You'll have to park and walk a ways then.

Way to cold? No but it won't be hot either. You are in the Cascade Mountains at 5500 feet, It could snow, hail, rain or be sunny. Be prepared for most any type of weather and you should have a great time.
