Generally, this is a great place to kayak. Please respect the fishermen. We can all enjoy this lake together.

I love to kayak on Sparks. It is always different, depending on water level. Camped there once so far ... it was outstanding to kayak to a location we liked and pitch our tent. Then watch the sunset with views of South Sister, Mount Bachelor,...More

Very popular. If it is too crowded, go on down the road to any of the other lakes along the Cascades Lake Highway.

The lake is beautiful, although by mid-July many parts are getting somewhat shallow. It is a fun lake to kayak. The main trouble is it is so easily accessible from Bend that the parking areas and boat loading areas are always packed. We try to...More

Views to die for! Kayaking heaven. (Pluse, there are very few natural camping areas left around these parts, but you'll find one here.) Being a very popular kayaking destination, make sure you get there EARLY to find parking. Also, make sure you go earlier in...More

The beauty of this area is almost beyond words. A shallow lake with crystal clear water and a show stopping shoreline. If that isn't enough the Cascade Mountain views will mesmerize you into Nirvana . There is a downside . This is a kayak, paddle board,canoe...More

Sparks Lake is a great flat-water canoe/kayak destination, although it can get busy when the tours unload. It's nicer in the morning before the afternoon winds kick up, but has a lot of protected water to paddle. Spectacular scenery.

Something very special about Sparks Lake and surrounding area. While not large in size there is something very serene and relaxing about the lake. User friendly and easy to boat. The lake takes on different look and feel depending on the season. One of the...More

I take my pup there to play. The water is very shallow in most places but then it drops off and you can kayak in a small but beautiful area. The mountains surrounding Sparks are beautiful and can see Broken Top mountain in the backdrop....More

We drove out the Cascade Lakes Highway today and stopped at Sparks Lake. Our first time there. Certainly will not be our last. It's a favorite with photographers and it is easy to see why. Pretty lake in a huge meadow. Reflections of the mountains...More

One of the first lakes on the Cascade Lakes Highway west of Mt. Bachelor, this is an easy hike and suitable for families. An interesting feature of the lake is that it drains substantially in summer, so that much of the exposed lakebed is then...More

Excellent for both. Lots of paddle boarders and kayakers. The lake is shallow for its size. VERY crowded, especially on weekends. You'll have to park and walk a ways then.
