Crane is one of the best still water fishing you will find in Central OR. Plenty of Rainbows to go around. Can get windy. Not much bank fishing but float tubes work great and of course boats.

Once in a lifetime experience. We were driving on the lakes loop highway just west of the northern side of the lake. A sight to behold.

This is a great place to go if you can get on the water. We kayak here at least once each summer and always have a wonderful time. The best part of kayaking Crane Prairie is the abundance of wildlife there. We always see bald eagles, osprey, great blue herons, cormorants and pelicans. We have seen coyotes trying to raid... Crane Prarie is a reservoir high in the cascade mountains with crystal clear water and great fishing for bass and trout. Once known as a trophy trout fishery it has been hi-jacked to a bass fishery by unscrupulous fishermen who illegally introduced bass to the lake over 20 years ago. The location is beautiful and great campsites exist, as is... More

We had a great day on the water! Just spectacular, no wind and the water was like glass. We paddled for about 5 miles. There were a few fisherman out, but, there is a speed limit on the water and everyone obeyed it. We especially enjoyed paddling around the sunken forest. The trees were part in and part out of... I like Crane Prairie for the great waterfowl- including Osprey! Others love the fishing here. The entire High Cascade Lakes region has so much to offer- it's definitely a great place to visit. I particularly like Crane Prairie in the full moon and also mid August Meteor showers. The large skyscape devoid of any ambient light make this a great... More

This open reservoir is great for kayaking when the fishermen are not hogging all the parking. Highly exposed, but still refreshing. Bald eagle nest 'stands' make sightings a bonus. Lots of shoreline to explore. Probably best off-season or weekdays when competition for parking isn't such an issue. That being said, the limited parking keeps the lake from feeling crowded, even... Bad: First of all, ignore advertised 50 amp, there is none. Secondly, owners can be very abrasive & are not concerned with their customers (i.e., or complaints about electricity). There are charges for everything, even a tent in your own rv site + for extra people beyond 4/extra vehicle/showers/etc. Good: A beautiful place to fish, relax, view the scenery &... More

We love to take a drive up the High Cascade Lakes Hwy whenever we have family in town. We stop at all the lakes and resorts and have lunch a one and get ice cream at another. We always stop in and take a look at the resort at Crane Prairie, we found the owners okay and not surly, but... More
