There is a wonderful primitive campsite just a short hike from the parking lot. A group of friends and I had headed out late one evening and hiked out to it at night, which unfortunately meant we weren’t able to alert the park rangers or register our vehicle. After a beautiful night out in the woods, we hiked back and were confronted by 2 rangers standing around our vehicle. Much to my surprise, they weren’t there to slap ridiculous fines on us or belittle us. They showed genuine concern for our safety, and once they understood the situation, they just let us off without any extra fines. A highly recommend this park if you want a break from the hustle and bustle of life, or a change of pace from the larger state parks that hardly allow camp fires even.

Book your camping trip online then no need to check in. Hiking trails were perfect and beautiful. Trail map and distances are off, but it’s impossible to get lost. Just keep walking. Mix of everything on the trails. FYI the trails marked for bikes are only for the most advanced mountain bikers.
Rv sites were concrete and provided plenty of area. Park rangers were great. Showed us where to find owls, and even stopped at our spot to warn us of rain, and took our garbage when he left. Pool is public and really nice but it’s $6 to get in. Nice picnic area by the pool and don’t miss the natural spring close to the pool. General store is quaint, staff is very helpful and they serve pretty good food. Bathrooms and showers are newer, clean and free. Firewood is very expensive. Park rules state no drinking over 3.2% and no smoking, but the rangers didn’t care as long as you weren’t out of hand. Had such a great time last month we are going again this month.

Although described as 4 miles, our route was just 3 miles, with an elevation gain of 255 feet, and took just under 2 hours. We met at 7, but didn't actually begin hike until around 7:30. The guide, who has been leading these for several years, handed out glow sticks and gave basic safety information before leading about 30 of us up to Inspiration Point, where we sat down (only 1 bench) and waited for the moon to rise in the NE. Lots of picture taking, and then we headed back down the way we came up. Needed a coat for after sundown, this time of year. You will need water and a flashlight, or use your phone's flashlight. Hiking shoes are good for the roots and rocks. A fun experience.

The park is 75 miles west of Oklahoma City. There is no admission fee.
We went here for a hike with several friends, two dogs, and our daughter the other day. This is an area with two man-made lakes, several trails (marking of them is rather haphazard, however), and some hills and dry (this time of year) streambeds. You start out usually from the lodge area, and let me not fail to say there is the golf course over there too. The day we went there were hardly any other people around. If you do the course (circuit) south of the lakes you can have a good 2 - 4 mile walk with some relaxing scenery. We didn’t see any wildlife about and I suppose there usually isn’t any (?).
Around the lodge there are a couple of tables where you can have a picnic if you bring along some items.
The lodge itself has a nice balcony where you can sit and have lunch overlooking the lake. We might go back there this week.
We don’t know Oklahoma well so I can’t say if this is one of the cooler places in the OK city area, or what. We did enjoy the visit.
Good place for an afternoon walk.
Enjoy the scenery and stay healthy!

This state park is located just north of Watonga. The lodge is beautiful with a great restaurant called Swadley's Foggy Bottom Kitchen which is the same family as Swadley's Barbeque and the General store for dining. Romans has great hiking trails, biking trails, fishing, canoeing, swimming, and a 19 hole golf course that would be a challenge for the pro's but a great course to play. You can tent camp, camper camp, and even T Pee camp or if you like staying inside they also have cabins. Also you must check out Watonga's main street they have great stores in town.

The park entrance is beautiful marked and makes for a great photo. Just inside the park you find the park office where you can golf or get a map for the park. The main hiking trails are located by the park lodge and are quite scenic. They offer great overlook of the lakes and local geography that is very pretty. You'll see cactus, streams and lots if birds. Be sure to get a map, you'll need it. On the other side if the park is a spring with a very easy trail to it that is quite nice.

My main improvement is that the trails to inspiration point could be marked better or again. Overall it was wonderful, I'll go back!

This is our second time to Roman Nose State Park, we stayed in the lodge with Lake view and it was amazing.

The hiking trails were very well marked. We went on top of Inspiration lookout and the views are amazing, there is a bench where you can sit and take in all the beauty.

The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The lake is still under construction, and there are some weird smells, but the facilities at this park are excellent. We drove here specifically to hike the set of trails up to Inspiration Point. The trails are excellent...lots of tree cover and some good views. A beautiful bench at the top. Sometimes the trails are well-marked...other times, not so much. Highly recommend for hiking! Seems like it would be a good place to camp. Lots of modern, updated sites and super nice bathrooms. Restaurants at the general store and at the visitor's center. Lots of recent upgrades.

This is one of my favorite state parks to visit. It is close to Enid, has amazing hiking opportunities and the Foggy Bottom Restaurant is amazing. This year with the pool being open, I will be spending even more time there.

Great place to hike. Very nice night hike that we did for the first time. We stayed at the lodge and had a great experience with the people at the front desk. They went out of their way to help us. We will define comeback. The park needs work in the hiking areas and at the lake., but other than that it was great
