Although described as 4 miles, our route was just 3 miles, with an elevation gain of 255 feet, and took just under 2 hours. We met at 7, but didn't actually begin hike until around 7:30. The guide, who has been leading these for several years, handed out glow sticks and gave basic safety information before leading about 30 of us up to Inspiration Point, where we sat down (only 1 bench) and waited for the moon to rise in the NE. Lots of picture taking, and then we headed back down the way we came up. Needed a coat for after sundown, this time of year. You will need water and a flashlight, or use your phone's flashlight. Hiking shoes are good for the roots and rocks. A fun experience.

Book your camping trip online then no need to check in. Hiking trails were perfect and beautiful. Trail map and distances are off, but it’s impossible to get lost. Just keep walking. Mix of everything on the trails. FYI the trails marked for bikes are only for the most advanced mountain bikers.
Rv sites were concrete and provided plenty of area. Park rangers were great. Showed us where to find owls, and even stopped at our spot to warn us of rain, and took our garbage when he left. Pool is public and really nice but it’s $6 to get in. Nice picnic area by the pool and don’t miss the natural spring close to the pool. General store is quaint, staff is very helpful and they serve pretty good food. Bathrooms and showers are newer, clean and free. Firewood is very expensive. Park rules state no drinking over 3.2% and no smoking, but the rangers didn’t care as long as you weren’t out of hand. Had such a great time last month we are going again this month.

This state park is located just north of Watonga. The lodge is beautiful with a great restaurant called Swadley's Foggy Bottom Kitchen which is the same family as Swadley's Barbeque and the General store for dining. Romans has great hiking trails, biking trails, fishing, canoeing, swimming, and a 19 hole golf course that would be a challenge for the pro's but a great course to play. You can tent camp, camper camp, and even T Pee camp or if you like staying inside they also have cabins. Also you must check out Watonga's main street they have great stores in town.

Excellent campground. We enjoyed hikingat Roman Nose, riding bikes and hiking Gloss Mountain, which is about 45 minutes away. We were there a Sunday to Wednesday. The week days were very quiet and we had most of the area to ourselves. Watonga had a good grocery store if you needed any supplies.

The lake is still under construction, and there are some weird smells, but the facilities at this park are excellent. We drove here specifically to hike the set of trails up to Inspiration Point. The trails are excellent...lots of tree cover and some good views. A beautiful bench at the top. Sometimes the trails are well-marked...other times, not so much. Highly recommend for hiking! Seems like it would be a good place to camp. Lots of modern, updated sites and super nice bathrooms. Restaurants at the general store and at the visitor's center. Lots of recent upgrades.

This is our second time to Roman Nose State Park, we stayed in the lodge with Lake view and it was amazing.

The hiking trails were very well marked. We went on top of Inspiration lookout and the views are amazing, there is a bench where you can sit and take in all the beauty.

The staff are very friendly and helpful.

This was a stop on a long weekend trek through NW Oklahoma. Our overall plan was to enjoy the outdoors, hike, and see wildlife. We also planned to stay at the lodge, but due to the fact the gas leak they has been dealing with for two weeks might not be resolved, we chose to stay elsewhere. The staff was upfront and helpful.

As a result, we do suggest you call directly to the lodge, general store, etc. before traveling here in the winter months. Sometimes things are closed or do not offer services touted on the web. We had planned to grad a bite to eat at the general store, but the kitchen was closed.

The hiking was wonderful, but make sure you have a trail map and pay attention to the markers that are there. We suggest stopping at the lodge to get your map and asking for suggestions as to the best trails to follow.

That evening, we had burgers at the lodge restaurant. They were not busy at all and we enjoyed our meal.

This is one of my favorite state parks to visit. It is close to Enid, has amazing hiking opportunities and the Foggy Bottom Restaurant is amazing. This year with the pool being open, I will be spending even more time there.

Viewing the stars at night was difficult because of the lights in the campground, but the stars we could see were spectacular. We also enjoy hiking but the trails are not marked well and it was easy to get turned around and get on the wrong trail. The Inspiration Point trail which we were told was 1 1/2 miles up and 1 1/2 back, took us almost 4 1/2 miles total, because of the switch backs not being marked well. We took our bikes and really enjoyed riding on the concrete trials and seeing the pool area and historic CCC sites. The trails in that area was very easy to walk and had beautiful springs and small waterfalls. If you like golf, the golf course looked very pretty and well maintained.

Great place to hike. Very nice night hike that we did for the first time. We stayed at the lodge and had a great experience with the people at the front desk. They went out of their way to help us. We will define comeback. The park needs work in the hiking areas and at the lake., but other than that it was great
