Oxley Nature Center is a 804 acre wildlife preserve located in Mohawk Park. There is an interpretive center with hands-on exhibits, wildlife viewing area with birds feeders that has lodge feeling with a huge fireplace. The nature center offers 3 habitats- wetlands, including a five acre marsh crossed with boardwalk, 70 acre secluded lake, one creek and one river. The area is mostly riparian forest interspersed with tallgrass prairie. Wildlife is abundant. Deer, beaver, raccoons, foxes and squirrels are commonly seen. Occasionally other mammal species such as bobcats and coyotes are seen as well. Birding opportunities are awesome! With varied habitat the bird species count comes in at 250! Scissortail flycatchers, prothonotary warblers and indigo buntings are common. Butterfly watching is most recently popular. So far the count 64 species. That's alot. And the nature center offers many programs for all ages and interests. Check out the website at (commercial URL)

I have fond memories of this park from my youth. It is still a great place to go.

Small and bare? Are you for real? Did you know it is the third largest municipal park in the United States?

Tulsa's Zoo, inside Mohawk Park was voted the best, and it is a great, family friendly zoo.....but far from the best I've seen. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it.....great displays, food, drinks, and fun......but it can't compare to SAn Diego Zoo or many others.

We went to the nearby Zoo with my 12 year old stepson and after that very hot, very long visit, I was extremely glad that splash pad was there! Lots of kids were playing in the water, and there was some "rock climbing" and other playground equipment. Very pretty surroundings.

Home to Tulsa Zoo, golf, fishing, Oxley Nature Center (hiking), jogging, exercise, grilling, picnic shelters and many outdoor activities. A lot of fun things to do here. Something for everyone really. Great for people watching. Pets welcome, on leashes. Tulsa International airport is close by so big jets are always flying overhead on their approach for landing. Big place. You could get lost. Have adult supervision and get out after dark.

GREAT place to bring the dogs, especially during the week when fewer people are there. Very spacious with nature trails and ponds. Good place to picky-nik, Yogi!

Lots of places to picnic and play. Good place to go after spending day at the zoo. Lots of room for large groups.

Maybe a trash can had blown over but the park was full of litter when we were there.

In late Autumn you can find as many pecans as you want in Mohawk Park. When I was a boy I used to go with my mother and grandmother and pick them. The Tulsa Zoo is located here. It also has a great golf course. Lake Yahola is here and you can fish. There are many good picnic area and some have bbq's. It is a great getaway yet very convenient.

We love going to Mohawk Park at all times of the year. The playground and splash pad are great for kids of all ages. The disc golf course is long and winding but can be played in an hour and a half. We haven't been through the nature center yet but hear that it is great for kids and adults.

During the summer there is an entrance fee to the park. The zoo sits in the middle of it so that is why there is a fee.
