A wonderful single family home built by the Phillips Oil owners, that is now a museum. Some gorgeous renaissance art. Beautiful grounds, and a great gift shop.

This place is splendid! Philbrook is definitely a Tulsa landmark that is a must see...The beautiful grounds are breathtaking, and the exhibits are inspiring. The walk through the museum is relaxing, and since it's not a Hearst Castle, you don't go on art overload. I...More

It had been several years since we had been there over the holidays obviously since we went expecting to see it decorated for Christmas with different Christmas trees. Only one tree, a lego exhibit which was NOT our thing. The Santa log cabin decorated with...More

Great variety of artworks, from Renaissance Art to Modern Art, and from mainstays to changing exhibits. There is also a massive exquisite garden. My favorite part though is the architecture and the decor, especially the wall paper and ceilings. The house itself is a masterpiece!

Our 60 second graders visited Philbrook on a beautiful day in December. The staff was ready for us and our big bus. We were split into five groups and every group reportedly had a great docent! (My group had Ann- who I'm sure was the...More

The special exhibits are always wonderful and the permanent collection is amazing. The grounds alone are worth a visit; spring and summer is the best.

Even though it was cold outside, we enjoyed walking the grounds behind the Museum. The cabin is a must. Art inside was interesting and varied. Nice way to spend a couple of hours.

We used to live in Tulsa and we still have family. After visiting this museum many times we still enjoy seeing it when in town.

The collection is eclectic. I was looking for some 20th century art and wasn't disappointed. The main claim to fame would probably be the grounds. I went on a gorgeous fall day and loved it. Try to visit when it's nice.

Yes, there are several areas that you can stroll through when the museum is closed. The grounds are extremely beautiful as well.

Two days in Tulsa - What to do? (4 Replies)
Only have a Friday night and Saturday day in Tulsa. What would you recommend? Gilcrease Museum or Philbrook Museum of Art for Saturday sight seeing? Which is better? What's happening on Friday night's? Staying downtown area - maybe Doubletree. Any nearby restaurant recommendations?

Well, we need to know when you are coming. Gilcrease and Philbrook are both magnificant, but wildly different. If you want western art, then Gilcrease, Philbrook rotates so you will have to google them and see if they have what you like. If you can afford the Doubletree, then try the Ambassador (privately owned and really nice).. Downtown is growing fast and there are actually things going on down there on Friday nights. Google blue dome district. We have a fairly nice Aquarium. ...More

Where to stay near Philbrook Museum of Art (3 Replies)
Please recommend where we should stay in Tulsa. We are coming for a special show at the Philbrook and we will only be in town one night. I don't mind paying a little extra for something special. Thank you.

As always, Art has been spot on with his recommendations. If you feel that you will want to take advantage of the new restaurant and bar scene in downtown Tulsa, then the Mayo will be a few blocks closer walk to that area. I believe that you must valet park at the Mayo, while the Ambassador enjoys some free parking in their lot and the one across the street. Topeco coffee shop is connected to the Mayo if you need some great coffee and a light breakfast or lunch. As he mentioned, we do have...More
