Had an opportunity to take a drive out and look at the old “Pump Pond,” from high school days here in the 70’s. The pond area was always grown up with brush and could be pretty snakey on warmer summer days back then. It’s wonderful to see that the park has been vastly improved and is being well cared for. Seen at the NE corner of the pond were two geese feeding. Several fox squirrels were seen gathering nuts between the trees. Brought back good memories. It’s certainly now a place where a family could get the makings of a picnic and come here and spend a lovely afternoon. Perhaps the kids could wet a line with a bobber and a worm on a hook and could catch a fish.

Every year there is an Easter egg hunt, many family gatherings take place year-round here. There is fishing and a small playground. Around the time of the Strawberry Festival (2nd weekend in may) this is usually where they set up the carnival. Lots of good memories, very pretty, only problems (if you can call them that) are the occasional trains that pass through, and possibly being attacked by geese if you're teasing them (fortunately this hasn't happened to me[yet]).

If you want a nice and pleasant place to relax from a hard day's work, this is the place to go. Charles from the Pawn Shop does the landscaping in this park. Say hello to Colleen Stevenson and Karen George too. While visiting Stilwell, feel free to say hello to the world famous Stilwell Grandma.
