Great find

The museum is in a beautiful building and the presentation is very nice. Lots to read and learn and a friendly volunteer to fill in the blanks. Donation. We were glad we went.

Wonderful and friendly little museum

I stopped in to this wonderful little museum yesterday, and I liked it so much, I came back in today. So much to see about the early days of Stillwater and Oklahoma in general. Some people might blow through it in a few minutes, but it really deserves a couple of hours. Charming little gift shop too!

Great Little Review

Excellent review of Payne County. Nicely done for a small museum. Love the fact that they have so many pics and memorabilia!

Nice, quick stop

Went by before a basketball game, worth the trip. The quilt exhibit was interesting, it was a ‘quilt study’ project. New small Quilts based on old quilts.

Really small but nice and great for kids
Jan 2019 • Family
This museum is tiny. We didn’t need more than an hour. But there was quite a bit of hands on activities for the kids. They also have a scavenger hunt. There were 9 of us...4 adults, 2 teens, and 3 kids and we all had a nice time.

Small but delightful
Apr 2018 • Solo
This is a free very small museum in the downtown area. It shows the history of the city, Indian tribes, oil discovery and agriculture.
There is an exhibit of parking meters and households items the settlers would of used.
The first year settlers came they did not get rain and the crops died. They planted turnips and they thrived allowing them to survive.
There are activities for children to interact with. Great for families.

It's free!

We were in town when they had their Civil War Quilt display. That was very interesting. The other temporary exhibits were rather small.

Their permanent exhibits are just Stillwater memorabilia - that is interesting if you have family members who grew up here.

Nice auditorium.

We have enjoyed a few voice recitals there and have very much enjoyed the auditorium. It's old, but nice and the stage is nice. There isn't a microphone so that can be a problem for some. We hope you enjoy it!

Best Kept Secret in Stillwater
May 2016 • Solo
The entrance to the Museum is ground level on the east side of the former Christian Science Reading Room. If you have a passing interest in Stillwater history and a little time to kill, you'll love the Sheerar Museum.

Small but Specialized
Apr 2016
A good little museum. This is a hidden treasure of downtown Stillwater. Check out the Stillwater in the 1920s exhibit.
