- Curtis SKingsport, Tennessee2,631 contributionsInteresting history of Conoco Oil and GasFormed back in the early 20th century by a merger of Marland oil company and Continental oil, Conoco is one of the biggest names in oil and gas today. They have a sizable manufacturing and R&D installation in Ponca City and right across the street there's a museum dedicated to the history of Conoco. If you are a chemist, like my wife and I, or just interested in science in general, this museum is worth a stop. It should be noted that entry is free of charge and there are enough interesting exhibits to hopefully keep your child's attention for the 45 minutes to an hour that it will take to wander through the museum. The exhibits are set up chronologically and take you through the starting days of Conoco right after the merger, right through to the current operations. It is a good story full of good guys and bad guys and allows you to understand what it takes to provide a gallon of gasoline at your local gas station. - Ryan SWichita, Kansas47 contributionsGreat museum about the oil industry. The museum was very easy to find and located across from the refinery, which was very suiting. The museum was packed with historical information about Conoco through to present day. It also had a lot of interesting displays about the refining process and the ability of the company to take their waste products and make them into usable items. On top of that the museum was free of charge and well worth the time to visit.Visited February 2020Traveled with familyWritten February 29, 2020
- MNDoodlesStillwater, Minnesota659 contributionsSuper fun and interestingI love an interactive museum and this one fills the bill with excellent exhibits, lots of fun historic artifacts and great photo opportunities next to cool gas pumps. We spent a little over an hour here and learned a lot about the interesting history of Conoco and its many great employees over the years. It’s an amazing business we knew little about before visiting. Be sure to catch the introductory video before walking through the museum. The young lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this museum when in the area.Visited October 2021Written October 30, 2021

- WedgewoodHouston, Texas1,220 contributionsWorth a VisitThe Conoco Museum is a free museum right across the street from the Phillips 66 refinery in Ponco City. It is well worth stopping to see. It traces the history of the company from its founding. Because Conoco has such a long history, this effectively gives you a great overview of the oil industry in Oklahoma as well. Very interesting, and very well done.Visited December 2013Traveled on businessWritten January 6, 2014

The museum is very clean, bright and pretty. There was only one or two hands on activity. (One was broke). Admission being free was very nice. It is all about the oil and gas industry so if that does not excite you, you should definitely not go. But if you are interested at all about how ConocoPhillips came to be it is worth the visit.

We added this museum because we had time - I must confess I was not enthused - however, this was a fascinating look at the oil industry which I admit I knew very little about beyond the price of gas! I came away with a lot more respect for the industry than I had previously.
