The Poncan Theater

This is a classic and historical theater built back in 1927. It is the best I have even seen anywhere. I used to go here as a kid in the 50's and loved the movies. It was wonderful. I am so glad Ponca City has renovated and preserved it!!!

Gorgeous old school theater
May 2019 • Friends
My grandfather ran the projector back in the day when that was still a thing. I was home visiting and took my guest for a look around. Classic old school theater! It's been around for 92 years. It was a great visit down memory lane! We didn't go for a show just a tour!

Beautiful Old Theater
May 2019 • Friends
This historic theater built and opened in 1927 cost $280,000 to build and equip. It served as a combination vaudeville movie theater and movie theater until the late 40's. In 1994 the theater was reopened. It is used for movies, symphony and well known entertainers such as Roy Clark. The original snack bar is still used. It hasn't changed much in those many years. The guide was knowledgeable as he grew up in Ponca City.

Great Memories
Aug 2018 • Couples
Grew up in Ponca City and remember many Saturday’s going to see the best cartoons and Western Movies. Graduated to the balcony in my teen years and now have attended several special events and movies in the redone movie venue. Completely redone several years ago. The Ponca Theatre will blow you away. What a special place I must have by whn Ponca City was young. If you in own, planto go!

A Nostalgic Visit of a Grand Theater
Jun 2018 • Couples
I may be a bit prejudiced, but this restored theater is beautiful. I grew up in Ponca City In the 50s and 60s and saw many movies at the Poncan. A nice theater to take a date. It was the nicest theater in town. Little did I know at that time what a historic place this had been and still is. I attended a tribute to Robert Moore here in June, 2018, and it was packed out. I was proud to show my wife what a beautiful restoration was done for this landmark theater. If you visit Ponca City, this is a “must see”.

Art Deco Palace
Jul 2018 • Couples
This 1927 Art Deco theater looks out of place in the tiny, nondescript downtown of Ponca City. In its heyday when movies provided one of the few escapes from hard times, the theater itself was the doorway to another world. It's good to see the local inhabitants have preserved this architectural beauty.

This unique theatre has been a main attraction in Ponca City for years. It is a beautiful auditorium that is accented with fine details. Whether you are watching a performance or taking a tour you will enjoy the ambiance of this theatre.
