There hasn’t been a review in the last four months so I thought I would post. we wanted to walk around a little after lunch and decided to head to this location. There are several trails all under a mile. They can be combined if you are looking for a longer walk, but a mile was perfect for us. I should have taken a picture of the map at the entrance because we were a little confused at times, but if you keep walking there are maps scattered throughout the park.
My favorite part of the hike was coming upon an area where you could walk down to the river bank. There were large boulders to stand or sit on since the river was down. It was beautiful.

We went there hoping to take our dogs for a walk. As you pull up to the front entrance there is a big sign stating NO DOGS. I guess the irresponsible dog owners have ruined another opportunity for the abiding.

This hidden gem was the highlight of our trip. We stumbled upon this and we were so glad we did. Beautiful creek for wading. Excellent playground for kids. Good little nature center. Some short trails for hiking.

Located in NW Oklahoma City on the south side of Kilpatrick Turnpike (Memorial Rd.) just west of Mercy Hospital is a gem of a park with three mile-long hiking trails and a wildlife sanctuary. We hiked the first one yesterday in the middle of a hot day but enjoyed our time because the majority of Trail "A" is shaded. I didn't realize OKC had so many big trees! All along the way are bird houses, interpretive displays, trail maps, etc. The trails are gravel and well maintained. There is a pond and several creeks which makes for an even more interesting hike. Today we returned to try hiking Trail "B." It was not as flat as "A," but it was also mostly in the shade and followed the creeks. On Saturdays in June and July, they open at 8AM instead of 9AM so we were there when they opened. We even saw a large deer on our hike this morning! We also saw several large birds at the creek. We have not tried Trail "C" yet. There is a small Visitor's Center with displays. Children were playing in the creek yesterday when we went and we noticed several families enjoying a picnic in a shaded covered pavilion. There was also a nice playground next to the large pond. There is no charge for the park. Dogs are not allowed. As they say at Martin Park Nature Center, "Please leave only footprints, take only memories. Don't kill anything but time!"

We were in Oklahoma City visiting family and thought we'd find a trail to take our 2 dogs on a little walk. Was very disappointed upon walking up to it when a volunteer started rudely telling us that dogs aren't allowed. Most other trails I have been on in other places do allow dogs on leashes. Just disappointed.

Enjoyable for walking and observing. As a family, we could relax together on a pleasant day. The Nature Center building is also worth visiting.

First of all, it's free, which is always good. It's a great spot to get outside for a short easy hike. It's great for kids because it get's them out with nature, but the trails aren't excessively long. They also have a nature center with animals and activities

We stumbled upon this park when we first moved to Oklahoma. I had myself convinced that Oklahoma was boring and flat, but this park changed my mind. The creeks and red rocks are beautiful and make great photo backdrops. The kids love exploring and wading through the creek. The nature center building itself doesn't seem like it is complete and some exhibits are not done, but the park is well cared for and naturally gorgeous. While we were there we saw geese, goslings, fish, lots of turtles, lizards, a snake, squirrels, and more.

My husband and I took a walk through this wilderness retreat and saw some deer, beautiful birds and just enjoyed the nature around us. It's not a place to walk for exercise but a place to marvel and enjoy. We spent a lot of time at the creek just enjoying the sound of water.
