So Glad We Went ... A Great Experience
Apr 2021 • Couples
I’m not sure what my favorite part was. Seeing the submarine memorials and the Captain of the ship who gave his life for his crew was very heart touching and sobering, but the artifacts as well were very interesting. The man who was working at the shop was nice and that always helps with one’s experience. I think it hit home too because we had a member in our family who died in 2013 that received the Navy Cross from when he was on the submarine called the USS Hoe during WW II. We weren’t able to go on the submarine the Batfish yet because it’s still being refurbished, but did notice it was doing Morse (sp?) Code from the submarine. The man who ran the shop said if you can figure it out that you get free admission and I thought that was so neat. I’m honored that I went there and would like to go again when the submarine is finished.

Thank you for the visit! We contacted TripAdvisor to correct the hours issue, but there is no way to indicate that the boat is closed and just the museum is open! We hope to have the issue repaired by July 2020! Come see us again!

Couldn't Tour!
Oct 2019
The submarine had floated out of its mooring this summer, and people were not allowed aboard while it is being repaired, that was a disappointment to many, so I would check on that before I made a trip to see it. The story of it is interesting, and hope the tour is up and running by next year.

Nice place, but the boat was closed
Aug 2019
I went here on my way back home from a conference. This was about 4 hours out of the way of my planned route, but worth it.

The museum and gift shop were open, but the boat was closed due to a flood a few months ago. I took an hour or so walking around the museum and outdoor displays. They have a 5-in/38 on a platform, two 3-in/50, and a twin 40mm out on the lawn, among other things. I bought a few things at the gift shop, and talked with the person behind the counter for a few minutes.

They plan on having the boat back open by next July.

Don't drive by without stopping
Apr 2019 • Couples
The USS Batfish has been very nicely restored and preserved. Between the museum and the boat we spent about several hours there. Bonus, they have a piece from the USS Oklahoma that was sunk at Pearl Harbour.

The boat tour is self guided and small video screens do an outstanding job of explaining the boat functions while you tour it.

The history is amazing and humbling when one realizes what happened in it.

Highly recommend!!
Apr 2019 • Family
We took our young children to learn about some of our history. They had a great time, especially since it was hands on. We were able to go into the submarine and were blown away!! We spent a couple of hours walking around and reading the different monuments. The staff seemed was very friendly and we’d certainly go back again.

They have a little museum to browse through before checking out the submarine. Fun activity for girls outside and other clubs or family day trip.

An awesome experience
Oct 2018
We visited USS Batfish last October and got to stay overnight as a group. It was a very unique experience! By sleeping there, we get to experience and imagine how those brave soldiers worked and lived. It's some kind of work out climbing up and down and going through those small spaces! There are still smells of diesel, but it doesn't bother me, I only noticed it when I went in again after spending some time outside. The ship is full of instruments and it amazes us to think how it was built and where it has been, and how it came to rest in Oklahoma. We live about three hours away and it's worth the drive.

A chance to go back in time!
Aug 2018
Here's a chance to 'go back in time' to the perilous times of World War 2 and experience the hazards, cramped quarters and comradery of those that served ''under the waves' to keep our country free!
