Quiet, scenic little town, went on a Saturday, only 3-4 shops open. Covid must have shut it down. A little disappointing for us.

The views are amazing as well as the history of the area. We saw bison and prairie dogs on the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge. This quaint town with cobblestone houses is fairly busy on the weekends, but be prepared: the shops are not open Monday through Wednesday. It was a great little getaway. We had our teenagers and 6 and 8 year- old granddaughters with us. They all had fun. Don't miss driving to the peak of Mt. Scott. Riverside cafe was amazing. Quaint and simple all the way around. The perfect place for a Fall Break getaway.

The main street through town is narrow, 10mph, and one where people just walk right down the middle of the road blocking traffic. The trail is filled with rocks protruding from the ground and one needs to be careful where to step. This is a well-used trail for mountain bikers and we had about half a dozen pass us by, being very respectful of us on the trail. We found some clearings in places and took more pictures of Mount Scott. Someday, we'll find where this trail leads to and take a longer or the full loop.…
