Years ago, and near where Geronimo's Guardhouse is located, there was a "Canon Walk" that contained many canons and large guns from years past to enjoy.
Visiting the post in September 2020, I was looking for that "Canon Walk" and no canons or weapons were found there. Instead, a little ways from this area and to the southeast, was a new "Artillery Park".
Wow! is all I can say. There are many more canons and such located there and each has a description board in front of them telling of the canon, the country it was from, and more.
Next to "Artillery Park" is a somewhat new museum and a must see and to the south of that building is a lot of memorials of military members lost in wars of the past.
A very interesting place to visit.

You could easily spend all day here. The museum is HUGE and very detailed. Then, if the weather's good, you could walk through the outside displays and read up on them. They've done an amazing job putting this all together!!!

Excellent presentation of Artillery's historical development. Detailed explanation of each exhibit (w/o being overwhelming). Balanced mix of equipment, the people who made significant contributions, and significant events.
Well worth 1-3 hours.

Indicated at visitor registration last Sunday we wanted to visit the museums, got an 'Authorized Visitor' pass. Presented that at the gate, indicated that we just wanted to see the museums. Were instructed to follow the blue line (that is a good idea but it does not lead to the museum entrance ...). When we finally arrived at the museum it was closed.
How much time would we have saved if the staff at registration would have informed us that the museums are closed on Sunday. This army institution is pretty disorganized.

I have to say this was one of the better museums that I have seen traveling to visit my children as they serve their country. I really liked the outside display of artillary. Talk about hands on and up close who knew these things were so big!
Check it out it is a nice quiet place!

The Ft. Sill Artillery Museum is just a leisurely hour and a half drive from Oklahoma City. The Curators have done an excellent job with their static displays and informative pieces detailing the history of artillery from the Revolutionary War to today. We were very impressed with every aspect of it. The Museum is actually spread through three buildings and has a Museum Store. The Store is closed on Monday and Tuesdays but you may want to call ahead and make sure it is open if you're looking for souvenirs. Bring your identification with you as you will need to go through security screening before being permitted on base as this is an active military installation. I would allow 2-3 hours for the Museums and walking through the Artillery Park displays.

We visited this museum with our 3 children between 4 and 8 years old. I was surprised they were actually quite interested in the various weapons and things. It was free to go see, but they accept donations. I would recommend this for anyone in there area looking to see some interesting history.

We were in the area and stopped by. Being retired from military, i have heard of the base and now get to see it. What a lot of history. The artillery museum was fantastic and all the displays. Loved seeing all the vehicles outside on display. Went to old side of base and found cavalry museum. Again a lot of early history about base. This is well worth stopping and seeing. Being retired did not need pass but civilians do. Check on hours.

Stopped by on my way to the Wichita Mountains and was overwhelmed by the size and quality of this Museum and others at Fort Sill. Civilians need to stop for a pass at the Key Gate/Visitors center on the Southwest side of the base ( I44 and Sheridan road ) The artillery museum and park is on the Northeast side of the base. Once found, there is and inside and outside component to the Museum. Both are excellent. There is also a film inside that I found interesting. I consider this base and all the museums a hidden gem. Glad I found it and would allow a full day if you plan to see it all. I will return.

Amazing seeing all of the technology put into weaponry over the years. We were on awe of the size and design of these missiles.
