Review of Central State Park, Edmond
We stayed here on April 22st and was very pleased with the high quality of this park. Do not let the name fool you because it is a city park for Edmond and not a state park. Nevertheless, it is nicer than most state parks and the best city park we have camped in. Just beautiful with many campsites right on the lake. We stayed in a primitive camp site with paved parking and a table at each site. In middle of April, there was only 1 other camper there out of 30-40 primitive sites. Very nice! It was a million dollar view of the lake from the campsite. There were clean, flush toilets centrally located and drinking water was less than 100 feet away. Campers are allowed to use the showers a short drive away in the RV campground. At a price of $15.20, this was a bargain. RV sites with some or full service is around $26 - $35.
The woman at the park entrance was very friendly and provided lots of information on the park and area. With a location so close to Oklahoma City, it was very surprising how secluded this park felt. We would give this park 5 stars and wish we could have stayed a few more days. Thanks to the officials of Edmond for providing and maintaining such nice facilities. We look forward to coming back and staying longer.

We stayed a week over Christmas, very few sites with sewer hookups, had to dump mid week then reset up (a bit of a pain). Quite a few only had electric, no water or sewer.
It was a nice enough place to stay, quiet, nice bathrooms & showers. Camp host were never at guard shack, always found them at camper location. Hard to get a hold of someone on phone, first come first serve, no reservations. (another pain). When you drive all they way you don't know what if anything will be available.

We took the kids to this lake and they had a blast, we were at the primitive area. We set up camp and the camp sites have enough distance between than that we have your privacy. We camped right in front of the water and there wasn't that many trees so we were able to fish right in front of our camp site. The beach area was also very pleasant, the water is very clean and was nice and warm. Cops do patrol the area and keep things quiet which was awesome. The kids camped, fished, went swimming, picked up wood for the camp fire and had an awesome camping experience. We all had a blast, I am not sure what everyone is gripping and complaining about, everyone there was just pleasant and having a great camping experience, mostly families with children. We look forward to going back and making this lake and camping area a regular on weekends. Oh it was hot during the day but in the evening it was nice and cool, clear sky full of starts and it was awesome weather for night fishing, also in the early sunrise, it is beautiful site over the lake.

Had high hopes and completely let down! I paid less to get into Daytona beach than this nasty place. Poop all over the beach and makes it disgusting for kids to play in. Staff in the entrance booth are very rude!

This is a very nice lake to visit whether you are boating, camping or just looking to spend the afternoon outdoors. There is a long trail for hiking and mountain biking. The fishing is great! The camp sights are not very private and the full hookups are completely open to one another, but if you book early you can get a good one on the point. There always seems to be lots of litter left behind by the crowds, this may be one of the worst lakes in Oklahoma when it comes to that. It does get very congested on the water during the summer weekends. The price can also add up as they charge per boat and per car. Also they charge you the per boat fee, per kayak... Still a nice place to visit that is close to town!

Don't waste your time going. They want to charge you $7.00 to just drive in the lake area. We wanted to drive through and see if it was a place for us to bring our camper back and spend time there with our 6 year old. They told us we would have to pay the fee to just drive through and look. I guess Edmond needs the money. You would think they would invite people to come and see what they have to offer, so you would come back and spend money there. We have been all over the U.S. camping and this has to be the worst place we have ever visited or I should say tried to visit. We will not be back and will certainly let everyone we know not to go there and also will share experience on social media on all of our airstream pages and other RV sites! We will drive back to Beavers Bend in McCurtain County, OK, before we will ever think about going to Arcadia.

Arcadia Lake is located just east of Edmond off of I-35. It's maintained by the city, so there is a fee to use the grounds. A day pass is $7/carload and there are other prices for overnight camping $20 and up/night/campsite. We love the fishing dock and primitive campsites off of 15th street exit, but typically go in to camp off of the 2nd street exit. Close to Arcadia there are several restaurants (Chick fil A, Whataburger, Buffalo Wild Wings, Thai Delight, etc), a Walmart, Sams, and a couple gas stations all within 5 miles of the park entrances, so if you forget something a quick trip across I-35 and you'll be good. The park itself is peaceful and fairly clean (beach area can get a little trashy during the high usage, summer months). Swimming off the sandy beaches is nice. It's a good place to relax or even have a get together.Fishing is good, especially crappie. Boats are allowed and there are numerous spots for docking and trailer parking. Most areas have bathrooms within walking distance. If you need camper hook ups, they are off the 2nd street exit. We sprung for the yearly park pass ($80ish) and have made our money back with only a few trips. Overall, we feel privileged to have such a beautiful, well-kept natural park within a short drive and we always love our time there.

He Gave Instructions About Renting A Site And Later Claimed It Wasn't What He Said. Worst Experience Camping At A Lake. Very Rude And Disorganized. Arrogant Too, In His Jeep. Ignores Posted "One Way" Signs. On Top Of That, Neighbors Were Making Noise From 11 PM Until 5 AM, While The Park Claims To Have A Strict 10PM Lights Out Policy. Nothing Was Done.

Great place to find a cove, forge for wood, build a fire, grill some meat, eat. Eat. Sleep. Eat more. Fish. Clean 'em. Grill. Eat more. Put out fire. Pull up tent stakes. Find public restroom. Run from public restroom. Get in car. Go home. Turn on TV. Sleep.

Cops cops cops cops cops. 3 different police visits in two hours, I went home. They said my music was too loud. They said I parked too far out in the street. They said I was riding my bike in the wrong area.

We are wanting to camp here for the first time and want to know which park is the nicest? Also, do you take RV reservations?

I was wondering why we can't tow with our PWC? The Edmond police said its not allowed??
I believe Arcadia Lake restricts PWC's to a certain area of the lake. Due to the number of crafts in that area, it is likely that the concern would be for it to become too congested and dangerous. Just a guess on my part.
