We made theater the center of a weekend - 4 plays on Friday and Saturday. Three of the four (Mikado, Annie Get Your Gun, and Kiss me Kate) were absolutely outstanding. The fourth (Have a Heart) was not in the same class. We attributed the problem to a very weak book rather than a poor performance. We are already looking... More

No wonder this series has been ongoing for 38 years. It is just wonderful. We saw 4 shows in two days beginning with the masters of light opera, Gilbert and Sullivan. As in England, we all stood to sing "God Save the Queen" , an historical touch seldom seen in the U.S. This production of "The Mikado" was unusual in... More

I know it's not trendy, but keeping the flag flying for Gilbert and Sullivan and other light opera should be applauded in my opinion. This year's OLO Mikado was great fun, nicely adapted for the political season, designed and costumed lavishly and lovingly, and performed with gusto and real musical appreciation. Long may they thrive, bravo!

We took in 5 shows in 4 days. One could be of differing opinions on the staging, which was mostly good, the sets were excellent, costumes mostly good (they are confused about what an appropriate hemline is for each era and some were WAY too short for the decade and inconsistent with the other costumes on stage. (An aging princess... More

We have just seen Annie Get Your Gun. it was fantastic. OHio Light Opera always is wonderful. We attend at least 2 productions every summer. It is a very doable drive from Columbus, Cleveland, Akron, Canton. The quality of the acting and singing is excellent. We personally like to attend matinees and then stop for dinner. It makes the whole... More

We have been going to OLO for 20 years and have been rarely disappointed in one of their productions. We went to the opening performance of the Mikado last week with friends and we all were thoroughly entertained. The performances , costumes, set and staging were all outstanding and the actor who played the Lord High Executioner was hilarious. The... More

Powerful voices brought Cole Porter's "Kiss Me Kate" to life. A thoroughly entertaining, top quality production brought laughs as well as tears. And in a cozy theater (plus generous leg room). We'll be back.

If you're not already familiar with the Ohio Light Opera, do yourself a favor and just come. If you're worried about the word "opera", don't. From an audience perspective, these light operas are much more like musicals. The music is very accessible. Hardly anyone ever dies. The presentations are peppered with jokes, and the cast are all talented comedic actors.... More

Having lived in Wooster for over 20 years I was aware of the Ohio Light Opera and knew of it's great reputation. But I am embarrassed to admit it took me 20 years to finally attend a performance last summer. It was WONDERFUL! We saw Brigadoon and enjoyed it so so much! I plan on attending a few shows this...
