It was a hot day, but had a great visit. I bet spring time is even better. The lady who was working was so nice and took time to explain so many things to the grand kids, and there are lots of items they can see and touch in the center. Our walk was awesome, such a treasure for Ohio. We saw several animals, you will be surprised1 The boardwalk is so neat to walk on allowing you to get so close to everything.

Perfect place to get away for an hour. Boardwalk gores through a number of different natural areas, including the cedar bog. It is only a mile so you do not need to take a lot of time and have all your hiking ear available.

Very good signage explaining the different areas as you stroll around. Small interpretive center if you need additional information.

A nice place to clear your head and refelct on nature

The cedar bog wooden walkway is wonderful. We were there this last week and the leaves were raining down. There is a nice visitors center which was open. The people working there were knowledgeable and helpful. We enjoyed it so much that we are going to try to come again in the spring and summer to see the rare plants blooming.

This is an off the highway state historical park. It shows what ohio swamps looked like. There was a nice boardwalk with signs explaining the plants. The employees were knowledgeable and helpful. The kids had a easy mile walk around the level boardwalk. You could easily push a wheelchair here if needed.

We stopped here to see the spring wildflowers but only a few had bloomed as of April 30. Check their website because the Nature Center Building is closed some days but you can access the newly reconstructed boardwalk even if the Center is closed (although you won't have access to restrooms). Normal admission fee is $5 for adults.

Change of pace from the parks with dirt trails with roots, to walk on the boardwalk through the swamp. Shady mostly, but will still feel the heat if it's a hot day. We saw the beautiful lady slipper orchids in late May, an abundance, almost overwhelming in their beauty. If you're returning to Columbus, enter 161 in Google Maps and take it back to Columbus for the scenic route home.

Located near Urbana, Ohio Cedar Bog is a different kind of nature preserve. It's really more of a fen than a bog (you'll have to look up the difference) and access through it is via boardwalk. You can't walk on the bog itself, nor would you want to! Many species of plants are there and they change spring through fall. We saw lots of trillium in April. Allow about an hour for the walk around the bog. Admission is $5.00 for adults. Bring bug spray, especially in the summer.

Cedar Bog is a great place to visit if your into nature. In the spring you can see the pink lady slipper orchid. If they are selling plants for a profit be cautious! They sold me a service berry plant that was just a stick in some dirt. The woman who sold it to me promised that it was alive. When I got home and put it in the ground there was no root system. I was sold a stick in the mud!

It costs $5 for adults and is free for kids. There is a wood boardwalk you walk on through the fen. It’s worth it if you don’t mind paying the money. The lady working there was great.

The naturalist is friendly and provides you with any information needed. We were able to get several identification books here to use. There is a nature center area with lots of hands-on items and pictures of things to see.

The fen is mosquito-y. You can bring your own spray or there is a basket of sprays to use. We got glimpses of dragonflies, a snake, and a couple skinks.

The path is a boardwalk. You can push a stroller on it although the rumble noise and vibration it makes can drive away wildlife. There is a bathroom inside the nature center.
