6 miles of well maintained trails, 2 birds viewing area, and several animal "ambassadors". Great potential to view wildlife.

I was visiting my adult son who lives in a home after a brain injury, and looking for something simple to do that would also provide a bit of exercise. This turned up in a Google search for nature centers near us. It was a lovely walk with several path choices, and we were so happy to see deer...very close! They seemed curious, not skittish, we got within 5-6 feet of them. There's a lovely building with exhibits for children, but interesting for adults as well. I can't wait to go back again.

This nature center is an Ohio blessing. Great for kids! A little hilly for seniors but doable. There are nice exhibits for everyone.

Went with my child's school group and the leader of the group was not very child oriented. She continued to loudly say, "FOO-CUS" consistently even when the children were doing a wonderful job of listening and following directions. The children were 4 years old and during the bird watching session, she would ask the children to look at the bird across the room on the other side, and then when the kids stood up to see, she would ask them if they were sitting down and listening. Why even mention it? This happened repeatedly. The tour could be a little more kid friendly for younger ages as 4 year olds attention span is not 1 1/2 hours long to listen to someone drone on about facts of animals. They never will retain 1/4 of the information. I mentally checked out after the first few minutes as I couldn't handle the way she was talking to the kids. They were not allowed to walk around the room with birds inside glass cages but made to sit down on the opposite side of the room and listen to more information. It would have been nicer if they would have had time to explore the place a little without constant detailed facts being explained to them... which sounded like infomation 5th graders would receive.

Great place to to set your own pace and skill challenge. A network of trails allows the hiker to set the duration and difficulty of his or he hike. Nature center building is in itself worth visiting.

Wear old shoes and be prepared to hike and explore. You can follow different paths and most are wooded but if it has rained some spots can be muddy.
There are multiple paths to follow. Older kids would have no problem hiking the kills.
At the end of the hike you can see some wild animals like a bald eagle, fox, skunk, crows, owls, minks and coyote. The kids love this part!
You can walk inside and touch and explore the nature center. There are public restrooms and a gift shop.
There is a small admission for the nature center. But you can hike for free. Plenty of parking and picnic tables for a snack or packed lunch.

We went to hike (more on that later) but we were truly impressed by the animals on display. Very nice exhibits and good signage in the Center. Outside were raptors -- hawks, eagle and owls -- plus coyote, fox and more. All were said to be rescue animals. Bigger spaces would be nice for the animals but excellent viewing. Allow at least 30 minutes for the exhibits.
Hiking -- 5 basic trails, each 0.5 to 1.1 miles. Excellent junction signage. Trails are likely to be quite muddy after rain and slippery on hillsides with rain or snow. We were glad that the reception person told us to look for a missing bridge on the Green (Buckeye Valley Trail). At Post #10, go about 50 feet up the trail and look to the right where there is a stream. This is to see if you can complete the loop. There are some large stones in a line across the stream. If they are exposed, then you will have dry feet on the return; otherwise, it is an out-and-back or wet feet. To do all 4 miles of trails, assume 2-3 hours. The trails around the ponds near the nature center would be good for little hikers.
